Job summary

Hyperion Materials & Technologies is seeking an experienced operator to run standard process and off-line equipment in a manufacturing setting. You will engage in LEAN initiatives, maintain quality and safety standards, and support continuous improvement on the shop floor.

The role requires the ability to operate a range of automated machines, perform basic maintenance, and lift 20–40 lbs. Overtime and shift flexibility are essential, with opportunities across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment helpful.
  • Must be able to operate and troubleshoot common production equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and run standard process equipment and off-line equipment.
  • Participate in LEAN initiatives to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Operate automated machinery, presses, lathes, mills, furnaces, EDMs, and robotics.
  • Handle hazardous chemicals safely and perform basic maintenance tasks.
  • Complete housekeeping and maintain clean work areas.
  • Train others on safe operation of equipment and follow work instructions.

Job description

Summary

Ability to operate and run to standard Process Equipment and Off line Equipment, such as; presses, furnaces, grinders, sandblasting, etc. while adhering to strict quality and safety standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Participate in team initiatives to identify and resolve safety issues.
  • Participation in developing LEAN solutions throughout manufacturing.
  • Independent, safe, responsible operation of all the equipment necessary for the production of super abrasives and related products within specified work assignment.
  • Operate automated machinery, presses, lathes, mills, furnaces, wire EDMs, and robotic equipment.
  • Operate chemical processing equipment and handle hazardous chemicals.
  • Perform hand assemblies of product, blends, sieved material, and other as required.
  • Operate and interpret results from measuring tools, gauges, scales, microscopes, go/no go gauges, and visual standards.
  • Perform minor tooling changes, setup and troubleshooting on production equipment. Assist area experts in completing higher difficulty tooling setup, changeovers and troubleshooting.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks including lubrication, filter changes, equipment cleanliness, and other as necessary.
  • Complete ownership for housekeeping in assigned work area.
  • Perform training of others with respect to the safe and responsible operation of assigned manufacturing equipment mentioned above.
  • Adhere to documented work instructions: PPF, POCI, EOI, JSA, assembly prints, and other as needed.
  • Assure product and process quality measures are maintained. Communicate quality concerns to relevant technical support personnel.

  • Proven independent performer that needs minimal supervision
  • Ability to use production management tools including LEAN, material management systems, and maintenance of accurate throughput and quality records.
  • Manual dexterity required to accurately handle and position parts.
  • Lifting and transport of materials (20-40 lbs).
  • Ability to comprehend and apply training to operate manufacturing production equipment listed above.
  • Ability to effectively balance priorities and multiple tasks to achieve overall production goals.
  • Must be available to work overtime during periods of high order volume.
  • Basic computer competency (email, data entry into Material Mgmt. Systems, log notes in MSWord,
  • MUST be able to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.
Education And/or Work Experience

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.

Previous experiencing with quality checks.

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements
  • Walking and standing on the shop floor for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Operators Production Level 1 to work in Sintering plant.
