Job summary

MAXCO Packaging is seeking a skilled Manual Mill Machinist to join our manufacturing team in California. You will set up and operate manual milling machines to fabricate precision parts and tooling, following blueprints and work orders to meet tight tolerances.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience, is detail-oriented, able to read drawings, and can work independently in a fast-paced shop environment while adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating manual milling machines, including setup and operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time on multiple jobs.

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of milling machines and work area.
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
  • Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements.

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Mill Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up and operate manual milling machines to fabricate and maintain precision parts, tooling, and components supporting our manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual milling machines to produce parts to specified tolerances
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine correct dimensions, tooling, and machining sequence
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and fixturing for each job
  • Measure and inspect finished parts using precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.) to verify conformance to specifications
  • Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, adjusting setup as needed to maintain quality
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of milling machines and work area
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records
  • Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a shop/manufacturing environment (noise, machine oils, varying temperatures)
