Job summary

C.H. Spencer LLC, part of the Atlas Copco group, is hiring a skilled manual machinist for our Salt Lake City shop. The role focuses on setting up and operating lathes, mills, and grinders, with emphasis on precision, drawings interpretation, and process improvements.

Qualifications include 3+ years in manual machining, ability to read technical drawings, and a high school diploma. English communication is required; training will be provided where needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a manual machinist.
• Experience setting up lathes, mills and various machining equipment.
• Experience with pumps (plus).
• Mechanical/welding experience (plus).
• Training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual machine tools (lathes, mills, bench grinders).
• Read and interpret technical drawing, occasionally manual creating drawings.
• Machine, grind, shape, and fit metal parts with precision.
• Measure components using micrometers, calipers and precision instruments.
• Design setup methods when none exist.
• Train personnel on machining techniques when needed.
• Improve processes for quality, safety, and cost efficiency.
• Keep accurate records of work performed and time required.
