Overview

Brunson Instrument Company is an industry leader with 90 years of experience in the development and creation of industrial alignment and measurement products. Brunson provides manufacturing and engineering solutions to measurement problems faced by people who build, inspect or maintain large machines – including aircraft, paper mills, satellites, ships, machine tools, particle accelerators and automobiles.

The Manual Machinist III is responsible for utilizing precision tools and machinery to produce highly accurate parts and tools as per specifications as well as some assembly work. This role works independently and is expected to be self-driven, but also have the ability to follow direction. Attention to detail is critical.

Responsibilities

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders
  • Aligning and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
  • Calculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers
  • Maintaining tight tolerances of +/- .0001
  • Monitor the quality of components using a wide range of equipment including CMM inspection and departmental quality documentation
  • Uses ERP system and quality system, creates certificates of compliance and documents serialized product for warranty purposes
  • Uses general hand tools for assembly
  • Keep an organized work area in order to maintain a productive and safe work environment
  • Apply the “Lean” knowledge and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED
  • 7 years in similar manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Microsoft Office proficient
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to take ownership of work
  • Ability to follow processes accurately

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of metrology tools
