Responsibilities

• Operate manual and CNC grinders, lathes, presses, and cutting machines to cut and shape parts.
• O.D. and surface grinding on manual and CNC grinders.
• Use micrometers, gauges and calipers to inspect parts.
• Set up machines with the correct program, tools, and material.
• Produce parts according to verbal and written instructions.
• Verify part against print specifications and document results.
• Notify team leader of any issues or equipment problems.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and perform routine equipment maintenance.

Manual Machinist

1^st Shift

Metals USA -- Gregor Technologies Division is seeking a Manual Machinist -- 1^st shift in Torrington, CT. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center servicing the defense, aerospace and fabrication industries.

Responsibilities:

• Cut and shape the part using a combination of lathes, presses, grinders and cutting machines which are both manual and computer-controlled
• O.D. and surface grinding on manual and CNC grinders.
• Checks the tool's dimensions with precision measuring instruments like micrometers, gauges and calipers.
• Must be self-motivated and willing to produce high-quality, value-added product.
• Operates production equipment to produce products in accordance with production needs.
• Sets up machine with the proper program, tools and material for specified part.
• Produces assigned products in accordance with verbal and written instructions.
• Checks part to ensure accuracy to print.
• Notifies team leader immediately of any problems when running a part.
• Fills out production paperwork, follows shop system data collection procedures and follows inspection procedures on a daily basis.
• Performs scheduled maintenance and inspection on equipment per machine specifications
• Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas.
• Notifies management of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions, and or personal injuries.
• Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
• Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
• Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

High School Graduate with technical training or equivalent (combination of education and experience)
Previous experience with manual equipment/processes.
Ability to work in a safe manner and follow all safety procedures.
Ability to learn new skills and technology as it pertains to business and fabrication needs
