Job summary

Gillmann Services, Inc. in Decatur, Alabama is hiring Experienced Manual Lathe Machinists for a Monday through Friday day shift. Pay ranges from $30 to $35 per hour based on experience, with benefits kicking in immediately. Candidates must operate large lathes and milling equipment and pass drug and background checks.

Qualified applicants will have experience with boring mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and precision measurement tools, plus reliable transportation to site.

Qualifications

• Experience with horizontal boring mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, saws, hoists, micrometers, dial indicators, layout tools.
• Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret prints to fix damaged parts and lay out stock.
• Set up and operate large boring mills, lathes, universal mills, and drill presses.
• Use a hoist to position objects and align for mounting on machines.
• Use precision measuring and layout tools to determine machining methods and work processes.
• Observe work pieces and ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Maintain tools and jigs and requisition needed parts and supplies.
• Re-grind and sharpen tools when necessary.
• Abide by safety rules to maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements:

• Experience with horizontal boring mills, lathes, drill press, grinders, saws, hoists, micrometers, dial indicators, layout tools, etc.
• Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
• Must have a reliable source of transportation.

Duties:

• Read and interpret prints to make necessary fixes to damaged parts and to lay out stock.
• Set up and operate large boring mills, lathes, universal mills, and drill presses.
• The ability to use a hoist for positioning objects in the correct alignment to fasten them on machines.
• Uses precision measuring and layout tools to determine machining methods and work process.
• Observe pieces of work and verify that they conform to specifications and standards.
• Maintain the tools and jigs in an orderly fashion and make requisitions for needed parts and supplies.
• Re-grind and sharpen tools when necessary.
• Abide by safety rules and procedures to insure a safe work environment for yourself and coworkers.
