Job summary

Etna FIRE, a division of Etna Supply, is seeking a Manual Lathe Operator in Grand Rapids, MI. The role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining manual lathes to produce pipe components, reading blueprints, and ensuring parts meet quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You will work with supervisors and teammates to meet production schedules, perform routine maintenance, document production activities, and uphold OSHA safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience operating manual lathes or similar machining equipment preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and precision measuring tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine machine maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes to machine pipe and piping components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following OSHA and company safety standards.

The Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual lathes to produce high-quality pipe and piping components. This role ensures products meet quality standards while supporting safe, efficient production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery and moderate to loud noise.
• Perform work indoors with occasional outdoor tasks.Maintain awareness of surroundings and follow all safety procedures and OSHA standards.
