Job summary

Star Mountain Capital, a leading private investment firm focused on the U.S. lower middle-market, is seeking a Managing Director to lead origination and underwriting for its private equity strategy.

The role is fully remote within the United States and involves oversight of the investment lifecycle. The successful candidate will have 12+ years of private equity experience, a proven track record in control-oriented investments, and strong financial modeling and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of private equity experience focused on lower middle-market LBOs.
• Proven track record leading control-oriented equity investments.
• Strong financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence skills.
• Willingness to travel nationwide for deal sourcing and board participation.

Responsibilities

• Originate and lead execution of control and minority equity investments in U.S. lower middle-market.
• Oversee the full investment lifecycle: sourcing, due diligence, structuring, valuation, and closing.
• Negotiate purchase agreements and governance documents.
• Partner with management teams and boards on value creation strategies, including add-on acquisitions.
• Cultivate relationships with intermediaries, executives, co-investors, and LPs to build proprietary deal flow.
• Monitor portfolio performance and mentor junior investment professionals.
