Managing Director, Project Management Services

We’re looking for a Managing Director, Project Management Services who is an experienced entrepreneurial business manager. Proficient in establishing a business plan for strategic growth of the Development Services platform and in various sectors of operational focus. You are a creative thinker, versatile development and construction professional with experience in managing multidisciplinary teams required to execute the land acquisition, development and construction process for a multitude of commercial product types.

Location: Chicago Office. This is an onsite role based in Chicago, Illinois.

In this role, you will…
  • Manage all phases of project management including design, construction, occupancy, quality control, staffing, and budget management.
  • Interface with clients to define project requirements.
  • Establish project work plans and deadlines.
  • Create persuasive presentations that meet the project’s objectives.
  • Track progress of projects against goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets, generating status reports, and monitoring expenses to ensure they fall within the prescribed budget.
  • Manage all facets of project design, construction, and occupancy.
  • Manage the project team by providing direction and leadership.
  • Facilitate client meetings regarding project matters.
  • Work closely with functional areas of the organization, project contractors, internal team members, external collaborators, customers and suppliers.
  • Manage a work unit or group, responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, motivating direct reports, and handling hiring, termination, compensation, and performance evaluation.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
What You’ll Bring…
  • Background in at least one of the following areas: Project Management, Architecture, Construction Management, Cost Estimating, or Engineering with at least 10‑15 years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a four‑year college.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents.
  • Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches, and articles using a distinctive style.
  • Effectively respond to sensitive issues, complex inquiries or complaints from clients, co‑workers, supervisors, and/or management.
  • Ability to make effective presentations on general topics to an internal department, large group of employees, clients, and/or management.
  • Motivate employees and client groups to take desired action.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles; able to forecast and prepare budgets; conduct complex financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to read and understand architectural drawings; proficiency in MS Project is helpful; knowledge of leases, contracts, and construction practices preferred.
Location and Salary

Area/Location: Chicago, Illinois

Approximate Salary Range: $166,233.00 to $180,000
