• Serve as trusted advisor to senior executives, utilities, regulators, investors, developers, legal counsel and other industry stakeholders.
• Provide strategic advice on regulatory, commercial, financial and industry challenges.
• Lead the development of high-quality analysis, reports, presentations, testimony and other client deliverables.
• Maintain and expand senior client relationships, identifying opportunities for new engagements and broader advisory support.
• Lead business development activities, including developing proposals, scopes, approaches and budgets.
• Provide senior oversight and quality control across multiple engagements, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard, on schedule and within budget.
• Represent the firm through industry events, thought leadership and other external activities.
• Mentor and develop consulting teams while contributing to recruitment, training, service development and broader firm leadership.

We are seeking a Managing Director to join a rapidly growing, specialist management consulting firm focused on the North American energy industry. The firm advises clients across regulatory, economic, financial, strategic and operational matters affecting the energy sector.

This is a senior leadership position for an established energy-sector advisor who combines deep industry expertise with client leadership, business development and team development. The Managing Director will originate and lead complex engagements, maintain senior client relationships, and play an active role in the continued growth and direction of the firm. This reflects the Director-level emphasis on subject-matter expertise, business development, quality and long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Originate, scope and lead complex consulting engagements across the North American energy sector.

Requirements

• Typically 15+ years of relevant experience within the energy industry, consulting, a regulatory body or a related advisory environment.
• Deep subject-matter expertise in one or more areas of the energy sector, with a strong understanding of the commercial, regulatory and market environment.
• Significant experience advising utilities, energy companies or other major energy-sector participants.
• Demonstrated ability to originate new work, develop senior client relationships and expand existing accounts.
• Experience leading complex consulting engagements and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to form and communicate well-supported recommendations on complex issues.
• Experience with regulatory proceedings, expert testimony or other formal industry proceedings is highly desirable.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with credibility engaging executives, regulators, legal counsel and other senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop consulting professionals and contribute to the broader growth of a business.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; an advanced degree or relevant professional credentials are advantageous.
• Willingness to travel to client sites and industry events as required.
