Job description

We are seeking a highly accomplished Managing Director to lead and expand our Business Valuations practice. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial valuation leader with a strong market presence, an established book of business, and deep technical expertise to drive the growth of a nationally recognized valuation platform.

The ideal candidate combines proven revenue generation capabilities with exceptional valuation expertise and a track record of advising clients across complex financial reporting, tax, transaction, and strategic planning matters. This individual will be responsible for leading practice growth, developing key client relationships, and building a high-performing team while maintaining full P&L responsibility.

  • Lead and scale the Business Valuations practice with full P&L responsibility.
  • Develop and execute strategic growth initiatives to expand market presence and service offerings.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of valuation professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Establish best practices, quality standards, and review procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables.
Client Advisory & Technical Expertise
  • Oversee complex valuation engagements for financial reporting, tax compliance, strategic planning, litigation support, and transaction advisory.
  • Provide expert guidance on:
  • 409A Valuations
  • ASC 718 Stock-Based Compensation
  • ASC 805 Purchase Price Allocations (PPA)
  • Goodwill Impairment Testing
  • ESOP Valuations
  • Fairness Opinions
  • Gift and Estate Tax Valuations
  • Advise clients on valuation matters related to mergers and acquisitions, capital raises, recapitalizations, and other strategic transactions.
Business Development
  • Leverage an existing book of business to drive immediate and sustained revenue growth.
  • Cultivate and expand relationships with private equity firms, venture capital investors, investment bankers, business owners, and corporate finance leaders.
  • Lead targeted networking and business development efforts within key professional organizations and industry groups.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify cross-selling opportunities and deliver integrated advisory solutions.
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
  • Proven success leading a valuation practice, transaction advisory group, or related professional services business.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring and grow a significant book of business.
  • Experience within a Big Four accounting firm, national consulting firm, investment bank, or premier boutique valuation practice.
  • Strong background managing business performance with P&L accountability.
  • Established relationships within the private equity, venture capital, investment banking, and middle-market business communities.
