Job Description
JOB SUMMARY The Managerial Assistant at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for supporting overall function and administration for the department, including completion of clerical activities and supporting the budget process. This role engages strong organizational and critical-thinking skills to maintain patient documentation, charts, and records, monitor and replenish supplies, generate and distribute reporting, and facilitate communication. The Managerial Assistant remains adaptable to support a range of department needs that may include patient transport and equipment setup and maintenance to enable efficient and effective department function.
Job Functions
- Creates and maintains patients charts.
- Processes patient pre-admission paperwork and distributes to appropriate department/therapist.
- Documents and reviews charges on a daily basis.
- Documents, processes, and files patient’s records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Receives and sorts all departmental mail.
- Contacts insurance company and verifying patient’s therapy benefits.
- Develops, reviews, and distributes departmental reports.
- Orders equipment and supplies within departmental budget.
Clinical (Under direction of Therapist/Management)
- Transports/Transfers patients as needed.
- Occasionally sets patients up on specialized therapeutic equipment.
Maintenance (Under direction of Therapist/Management)
- Maintains, cleans, and repairs equipment.
- Maintains temperature logs of designated equipment.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent . Required
Licenses and Certifications
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Upon Hire. Required
Work Experience
- 1-3 years. Prior administrative, clerical, or office experience. Required
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication
- Must have working knowledge of computer skills and software programs
- Must interact with a patient population of all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics and their families.
- Must have excellent organizational skills
- Must have the ability to work independently
- Must be self motivated and convey a high degree of professionalism
- Must reflect a positive, caring attitude toward clients, patients, staff and the public we serve
