Responsibilities

Northrop Grumman Advanced Weapons is seeking a Traffic Administration Manager 1, to join our team.

The Traffic Administration Manager This role oversees domestic and international movement of materials, carrier performance, transportation compliance, and coordination across supply chain, manufacturing, contracts, and program teams. The position helps ensure critical hardware, equipment, and documentation move securely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer, regulatory, and mission requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day traffic and transportation administration activities for inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Manage shipment planning, routing, carrier selection, and freight coordination to meet cost, schedule, and customer requirements.
  • Oversee compliance with applicable transportation, import/export, hazardous material, and government shipping requirements.
  • Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, manufacturing, quality, contracts, and program teams to support material flow and delivery performance.
  • Review and approve shipping documentation, freight invoices, routing instructions, and transportation records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor carrier performance, delivery metrics, claims activity, and service issues; drive corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain transportation procedures, work instructions, and controls that support operational consistency and audit readiness.
  • Support movement of high-value, controlled, or time-sensitive materials in alignment with security and program requirements.
  • Manage third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders, and parcel/freight carriers to optimize service and cost.
  • Analyze transportation data and trends to improve on-time delivery, reduce freight expense, and mitigate shipping risks.
  • Lead, coach, and develop traffic administration personnel, including workload prioritization and performance management.
  • Support internal and external audits, customer reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives related to shipping and logistics operations.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, operations, or a related field; with 5+ years of related experience or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of related experience. 9 years of experience can be applied in lieu of a traditional degree.
  • Working knowledge of freight routing, shipping documentation, carrier management, and transportation cost control.
  • Familiarity with import/export controls, hazardous materials handling requirements, and government/defense shipping environments.
  • Ability to analyze operational data, resolve shipment issues, and make sound decisions in a deadline‑driven setting.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with cross‑functional teams and external service providers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Department of War (DoW) Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of War (DoW), aerospace, or other government‑contracting environments.
  • Knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and related shipping controls.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP), warehouse management, and transportation management systems.
  • Familiarity with Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR) or related government shipping guidance.
  • Certified in Transportation and Logistics (CTL), APICS/ASCM, or similar supply chain/logistics credential.
  • Experience with freight claims, customs coordination, duty optimization, and third‑party logistics oversight.
  • Knowledge of packaging, crating, and movement requirements for sensitive, hazardous, or mission‑critical materials.
  • Lean, continuous improvement, or process optimization experience in logistics operations.

Primary Level Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
