Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. in Towson, Maryland seeks a Manager, Technical Publications & Product Graphics to lead the Technical Writing and On-Product Graphics teams within our Power Tools Engineering group, embracing hybrid work.

This role drives documentation quality, ensures regulatory alignment, collaborates with engineering, product management, regulatory, legal, quality, and marketing, and develops team capabilities while shaping standardized, award‑winning product graphics across global

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Graphic Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical publications, technical writing, labeling, product graphics, product compliance support, or related functions.
  • Minimum of 3 years of people leadership experience, including management of direct reports and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Experience with and understanding of applicable regulatory, safety, and compliance requirements related to product documentation, labeling, and on‑product graphics.
  • Strong understanding of document control, revision management, and cross‑functional review processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against project timelines.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience leading process improvement or operational excellence initiatives.
  • Experience with structured authoring and content management systems.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Technical Writing and On-Product Graphics teams, establishing clear priorities, performance expectations, and development plans.
  • Oversee the creation, review, approval, and release of instruction manuals, user guides, labels, and on-product graphics for Power Tools products.
  • Ensure documentation and on-product graphics are accurate, clear, consistent, and aligned with product design, brand standards, and approved safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Build team capability, strengthen processes, and ensure appropriate resource planning to support product development timelines and launch commitments.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product Management, Regulatory, Legal, Quality, and Marketing to ensure documentation and labeling support business needs, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards across global markets.
  • Drive consistency in content structure, terminology, and document quality across product lines.
  • Identify opportunities for simplification, digitization, standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Support translation and localization activities for global product launches and regional regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee document and artwork review and approval processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely execution.
  • Lead with accountability, urgency, and a strong quality mindset.
  • Coach and develop team members while fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and improvement.

Salary

The Salary range for this position is $81,700.00 - $131,600.00 This is the lowest to highest annual full-time salary range we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The salary offered within the range may vary depending on multiple factors including job level, geographic location, job‑related knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and in compliance with local wage requirements.
