Job summary

CDM Smith Inc. is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead U.S. and international tax reporting, compliance, planning, and provision activities for a growing global organization. You will partner with finance leadership, business stakeholders, and external advisors to ensure compliance and support strategic initiatives.

This role blends technical tax expertise with strategic planning, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with US federal and international taxation.
  • Strong understanding of accounting for income taxes (ASC 740).
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead U.S. and international tax compliance activities, including the preparation and review of tax calculations, filings, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage international tax matters, including foreign tax credits, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, Pillar Two, and other cross-border tax considerations.
  • Prepare and manage the quarterly and annual income tax provision process under ASC 740, including schedules and disclosures.
  • Research complex federal and international tax issues and assess legislative/regulatory developments.
  • Provide tax guidance related to global expansion, new jurisdictions, and international business activities.
  • Prepare technical tax memoranda, documentation, and leadership presentations.
  • Monitor global tax developments and Pillar Two requirements, and support related obligations.
  • Support transfer pricing strategy development and documentation.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors on compliance and planning.
  • Drive process improvements using Power Platform and Power BI.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead U.S. and international tax reporting, compliance, planning, and provision activities for a growing global organization. In this highly visible role, you will partner with finance leadership, business stakeholders, and external advisors to help ensure compliance, support strategic business initiatives, and navigate an evolving international tax landscape.

This is an exciting opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys balancing technical tax expertise with strategic planning, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Lead U.S. and international tax compliance activities, including the preparation and review of tax calculations, filings, and related reporting requirements.
  • Manage international tax matters, including foreign tax credits, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, Pillar Two, and other cross-border tax considerations.
  • Prepare and manage the quarterly and annual income tax provision process under ASC 740, including supporting schedules and financial statement disclosures.
  • Research complex federal and international tax issues and assess the impact of legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Partner with business leaders and project teams to provide tax guidance related to global expansion initiatives, new jurisdictions, and international business activities.
  • Prepare technical tax memoranda, documentation, and presentations for leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Monitor global tax developments, including OECD Pillar Two requirements, and support related compliance and reporting obligations.
  • Support the development, implementation, and documentation of the company's global transfer pricing strategy.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors to support compliance, planning, and strategic tax initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and reporting enhancements using technologies such as Microsoft Power Platform and Power BI.

  • 5 years of related experience with at least 2 of those years in a management or supervisory capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Current CPA or JD required.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate’s salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.

Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
