Job summary

McKinsey & Company is seeking a Manager for the Third-Party Risk Strategy within Optimize to lead the global supplier onboarding program. You will shape risk-based processes, implement third-party risk frameworks, and collaborate with Ethics & Compliance, Finance, Legal and Cyber teams across multiple offices.

You will report to the Senior Manager of Third-Party Risk Strategy and work from multiple U.S.

Qualifications

  • 7+years of professional experience with 5+ years in risk management or compliance, ideally in a large multinational organization.
  • Experience in developing internal controls, processes and principles related to third party risk management.
  • Excellent judgment and exceptional integrity, as well as distinctive interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with ability to drive to outcomes on cross-functional and complex projects.
  • Curious mindset and demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and ideas, and to apply those concepts across multiple content areas.
  • Strong professional computing skills, including Microsoft Office products (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Ability to use and develop AI capabilities.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity in a work-setting, knowing how to address and manage unpredictable outcomes.
  • Superior communication & interpersonal skills, including the ability to present to a global audience on a regular basis, build and maintain highly effective and collaborative relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve the firm's supplier risk lifecycle.
  • Ensure onboarding processes are efficient, auditable, and aligned with risk appetite.
  • Co-create strategy and manage risk-based processes for end-to-end supplier onboarding.
  • Develop and implement McKinsey's third-party risk framework and risk programs.
  • Assess service levels, controls, and processes; drive improvements.
  • Define and monitor program metrics such as onboarding cycle times and risk coverage.
  • Handle global stakeholders and report to Senior Manager of Third-Party Risk Strategy.
  • Stay ahead of risk issues and drive special projects across the organization.

YOUR IMPACT

You will support the design and evolution of the firm's supplier risk lifecycle, including risk identification, onboarding due diligence, risk tiering, ongoing monitoring, issue management, and offboarding governance.

You will ensure that onboarding processes are efficient, auditable, and aligned with firm risk appetite and user experience expectations.

You will co-create strategy and manage risk-based processes that will enable an efficient and effective end-to-end supplier onboarding program and user experience. This includes the ongoing development and implementation of McKinsey's third-party risk framework and delivering risk programs to achieve excellence in managing supplier risk.

While day-to-day execution is led by the Operations team, you will be accountable for program performance and alignment to strategy. You will assess whether service levels, controls, and processes are operating effectively, and drive improvements where gaps are identified. You will define and monitor key program metrics, including service levels, onboarding cycle times, risk coverage, and remediation effectiveness. You will use these insights to optimize performance, reduce risk exposure, and improve the overall third-party experience.

You will be part of Optimize, McKinsey's global procurement capability, enhancing and protecting the firm's resources and reputation by making responsible buying easy and creating leading solutions and experiences across our third-party ecosystem. We are hiring a Manager for the Third-Party Risk Strategy pillar of Optimize's Third Party Risk & Social Responsibility team. Thisteam defines and governs the firm's global third-party risk management (TPRM) program, spanning various third-party types and risk domains. You will report to the Senior Manager of Third-Party Risk Strategy and work closely with global stakeholders including Ethics & Compliance, Finance, Legal, Cyber focused specifically on suppliers the firm engages with to deliver products and services. You will be based out of London, Philadelphia, New York/New Jersey, Atlanta, Boston, Miramar, Tampa, or Washington DC office.

To further build the firm's capabilities, you will play a leading role in continually improving the risk management capabilities, technologies, data sources and documentation of the supplier onboarding program. You will support the development of standards, reporting and other program materials and documentation while ensuring that the onboarding program processes are auditable. You will partner with the broader Third-Party Risk team to foster and coach a risk first awareness culture at McKinsey.

You will stay ahead of risk issues and drive special projects that address emerging risks, market developments and/or internal customer needs. You can expect to manage a broad range of interesting projects on a global level.

to remember that actual salaries may vary. Factors like your office location, your unique blend of experience and skills, start date and our current
