Job summary

The Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor based in Southern California, seeks a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to lead the supplier quality team and advance quality across programs. You will collaborate with Supply Chain, conduct supplier visits, and implement RCCA-based improvements, ensuring compliance with AS9102 FAI and PAPs.

Qualifications

  • College degree in Business Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in supplier quality management or related supply chain experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in aerospace/defense related to supplier quality.
  • Minimum of 8 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong leadership, accountability, process ownership, RCCA abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced in training employees and suppliers on purchasing and flow down requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of supplier quality to improve performance through collaboration with Supply Chain and supplier visits.
  • Ensure SQE skills support supplier training including Pre and Post Awards, AS9102 FAI, PAPs, and scorecard systems.
  • Oversee issuing and tracking SCARs, supplier notifications, and RTG plans.
  • Guide actions using SCAR/QN data analytics to resolve supplier blockages.
  • Monitor and mitigate supplier-related risks with Supply Chain and others.
  • Support GIDEP Alert management for purchased product.
  • Deploy monthly Supplier Quality Performance Scorecards and coordinate non-conformances.
  • Lead and mentor SQEs with coaching and performance discussions.

Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment. Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. POSITION SUMMARY:

To effectively manage a team of Supplier Quality Engineers and supporting staff in order to manage processes related to supplier management with the goal to continuously improve the overall supplier quality performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of Supplier Quality to improve supplier quality performance by collaborating with the Supply Chain organization and supplier visitations
  • Ensure SQE skills and competency are adequate to support supplier training activities which include Pre and Post Awards, AS9102 FAI documentation, Product Assurance Provisions (PAPs), supplier score card system, Supplier Delegated Inspection (SDI), Supplier Paperless Program, and use of the supplier portal
  • Provide management oversight in the issuance, monitoring and reporting of Supplier Corrective Action Requests, Supplier Notifications, and requests for Return to Green (RTG) Plans
  • Provide guidance using SCAR or QN data analytics prepared by the SQEs on the appropriate actions and communications when trying to determine supplier blockage
  • Actively engaged in monitoring and resolving supplier related risk mitigation with Supply Chain and other interested parties (i.e., Return to Green Plans)
  • Supports GIDEP Alert management as it applies to purchased product
  • Responsible for ensuring the deployment of monthly Supplier Quality Performance Scorecards and coordinating supplier non-conformances in support of reducing/eliminating causes for rejection
  • Lead and foster employee development of the Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) through coaching, mentoring and one-on-one employee performance discussions

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree in Business Management, Engineering, or other related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of supplier quality management or similar years of experience in supply chain
  • Minimum of 3 years in the aerospace and defense industry as it relates to supplier quality
  • Minimum of 8 years of supervisory or management level experience
  • Strong leadership skills in driving accountability, process ownership, continuous improvement, and root cause and corrective actions (RCCA)
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (i.e., constructing formal correspondence to suppliers, writing work instructions or standard practice procedures)
  • Strong influential skills, successful track record in building interpersonal relationships, ability to quickly build credibility, and gain the confidence of other co-workers/leaders and suppliers
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint
  • Must possess skills in creating, monitoring and reporting supplier quality measures
  • Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) decision making
  • Experience in training employees and/or suppliers in Purchasing and product assurance provisions flow down requirements
  • Experience in Project management and/or skills related to project planning, resource planning, task management, and/or risk assessment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ASQ Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred

SALARY RANGE:

Base Salary Range (Inglewood only): $115,000 to $145,000

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Visiting local suppliers will be a common expectation (2-3 visits minimum per month). On occasion, this job title may require travel outside of the Southern California area as needed.
