Job summary

STACK Infrastructure is seeking a senior Structural Engineering and Design Manager to serve as the SME for structural engineering across the data center portfolio. • Data center or mission-critical facility experience preferred.
• Proficiency with steel, concrete, engineered wood products, foundations, and equipment support systems.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and third-party consultants.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to coordinate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Understanding of cost, schedule, constructability, and facility operations implications.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu; advanced knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience with project/design management platforms is preferred.

THE POSITION

At STACK, the Structural Engineering and Design Manager will serve as STACK's structural engineering subject matter expert(SME) and responsible for providing technical leadership, design oversight, and support across the data center portfolio. This role is responsible for establishing structural design direction, maintaining portfolio-wide standards, providing technical governance, and supporting projects from early development and site feasibility through design, construction, and existing-facility modifications. The Structural Engineering and Design Manager will partner closely with Design Managers, Engineering Leads, Development, Construction, Procurement, and external A/E consultants to ensure structural systems meet STACK standards for reliability, scalability, sustainability, constructability, and operational performance. The position will also lead the continued development of the Basis of Design structural requirements, design optimization initiatives, and lessons learned integration.

Responsibilities

• Serve as STACK’s structural engineering subject matter expert across new development, expansion, and existing-facility projects.


• Support site selection, due diligence, campus planning, and site feasibility evaluations including geotechnical considerations.


• Lead structural design reviews across project phases.


• Review design criteria, construction documents, specifications, calculations, RFIs, submittals, and design changes.


• Maintain structural requirements of the Basis of Design.


• Develop standardized details and structural design criteria.


• Support value engineering and constructability reviews.


• Capture lessons learned and implement continuous improvement initiatives.


• Support consultant selection, onboarding, and performance management.


• Provide structural technical support to Design Managers across the portfolio.

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an accredited engineering program; Master’s degree preferred.


• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.


• Between 5-8 years of relevant structural engineering experience, including experience managing complex building design projects.


• Data center or mission-critical facility experience preferred.


• Demonstrated knowledge with steel, concrete, engineered wood products, various foundation types, equipment support systems and applicable building codes and standards.


• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and third-party architecture and engineering consultants on multiple projects while maintaining accountability for design schedule, quality, and coordination.


• Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders at all levels.


• Deep understanding of the relationship between design decisions, construction cost, schedule, procurement, constructability, and facility operations.


• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu, and an advance working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.


• Experience with project/design management platforms is preferred.

Compensation Range

• $133,000.00 - $154,000.00
