You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.Position DescriptionOur Manager is an engineering leader who works with the engineering staff to innovate and build new engineering solutions, improve and enhance existing solutions as well as leverage engineering solutions to solve critical operational problems. A Manager will lead execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional technical expertise, with a strong ability to enhance application performance, improve user experience, and drive efficient test automation. Additionally, they demonstrate a curious and nuanced understanding of commercial insurance concepts.Qualifications:Proven management experience leading teams of 5+ engineersStrong background in delivering digital - web and/or mobile - products at scale.Ability to prioritize and drive results based on business value to the organization.Fluency with at least one modern language such as Python, Java and experience with open-source software is a big plusStrong critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills.Proven ability to concentrate and demonstrate a capacity for learning technical concepts and adapting to new technologies quicklyStrong Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure etc.) platform knowledgeProficiency in Project Management and work item management tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOpsStrong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core computer science conceptsExperience with application monitoring tools and performance assessmentsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate to both Senior Leadership, highly technical and non-technical audiencesProven experience with CI/CD pipelines and build and release practices in commercial insurance ExperienceExperience:8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including software development lifecycle best practices5+ years of development in a large-scale, mission-critical environment5+ years of hands-on work experience supervising personnel in a technical environment2+ years' experience with automated testing including Unit, Integration, and End-to-End functional testingEducation:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experienceAnnual Salary$120,000.00 - $300,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline.
