Job description

As one of the first pioneers of earned wage access, our passion at EarnIn is building products that deliver real-time financial flexibility for those with the unique needs of living paycheck to paycheck. Our community members access their earnings as they earn them, with options to spend, save, and grow their money without mandatory fees, interest rates, or credit checks.

We’re fortunate to have an incredibly experienced leadership team, combined with world-class funding partners like A16Z, Matrix Partners, DST, Ribbit Capital, and a very healthy core business with a tremendous runway. We’re growing fast and are excited to continue bringing world-class talent onboard to help shape the next chapter of our growth journey.

WHY this role exists

We're on a mission to reinvent the financial system and make it work for people. We are looking for an experienced professional to lead a full-stack engineering team comprising backend and mobile engineers. We have a top-tier team of engineers and leaders who have worked for tech companies such as Meta, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google, Uber, Dropbox, etc. As a hands-on Manager for our Early Bets team, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to designing and developing some of our early-stage innovative products (0-1). You will work with your cross-functional partners and team to shape the direction of our Savings products and help make it a significant driver of customer retention and revenue for the company.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $266,000 - $326,000 plus equity and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. This is a hybrid position in Mountain View (Headquarters) and will require in-office work 2 days a week.

HOW you will create impact
  • Act as a product‑minded player‑coach, balancing high‑impact team management with hands‑on technical contributions to rapidly build and iterate on early‑stage innovative products (0-1).
  • Embed AI‑native practices into the daily rhythm of planning, prioritization, and execution to accelerate the delivery and validation of "Early Bets" products.
  • Scale team impact by optimizing workflows through AI automation, ensuring the team remains agile and effective while navigating the high‑velocity requirements of early product development.
  • Maintain deep, hands‑on AI fluency to lead by example, leveraging advanced AI tools to design, develop, and evaluate the quality of engineering work supporting new product initiatives.
  • Coach and mentor engineers on critical, effective AI usage, moving beyond simple automation to sophisticated, disciplined engineering practices.
  • Own the full performance management lifecycle for your team, from setting clear expectations and delivering ongoing feedback to calibration, leveling decisions, and development planning.
  • Partner with product and cross‑functional teams to translate ambiguous business goals into strategic technical roadmaps optimized for discovery and high‑velocity iteration.
  • Drive the architecture and implementation of new features, breaking down complex problems and delivering high‑quality code that serves as a foundation for scalable, high‑impact products.
  • Recruit and develop a top‑tier engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and constant innovation.
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership in an IC or EM capacity.
  • Ability to dive into architecture and write clean, scalable code while simultaneously mentoring others.
  • Comfort working with cross‑functional partners including PMs, Analysts, and mobile/backend engineers.
  • Experience leading teams that produce high‑quality output on critical infrastructure.
  • Hands‑on fluency with AI‑native engineering workflows, including tools such as Cursor and Claude, with the judgment to use AI for planning, coding, triage, and technical decision support.
  • A creative, tenacious problem solver with a "get-it-done" attitude.
  • A standard‑bearer who takes pride in their work and inspires others to rise to the occasion.
  • Capable of maintaining a positive, healthy team environment that supports and challenges everyone.
