Job summary

NBCUniversal is seeking a Security Manager to join the Global Security Operations team at 30 Rock. You will be responsible for maintaining the overall safety of the site, guests, and staff, acting as a hands-on leader with strong mentorship of security personnel.

Responsibilities include overseeing evacuations, threat assessments, training staff, and conducting risk analyses for events and remote shoots. The role requires travel and flexible hours, with on-site duties as a requirement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent working experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in law enforcement, military, corporate security, and/or related role with executive level experience.
• Experience coordinating and implementing strategies for large-scale event security.
• Experience working in a multi-agency, collaborative environment.
• Experience supervising staff or contracted employees.
• Experience managing a budget and working with vendors; strong negotiation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Operational experience and ability to respond quickly to security concerns in real time.
• Must be willing to be on call and available 24/7 for emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee emergency evacuation procedures, active shooter training and threat assessments.
• Mentor guard staff and manage guard force during tours (up to 20 personnel).
• Oversee guard area responsibilities training.
• Verify loading/unloading of live studio audiences aligns with standards.
• Plan and execute drills for multiple crisis scenarios.
• Assess and adjust security posture in real time.
• Ensure security devices and equipment are maintained and accounted for.
• Document all incidents accurately.
• Initiate preliminary investigations of incidents.
• Serve as security point of contact during tours.
• Travel nationally/internationally with Today Show for remote shoots.

Job Description

NBCUniversal is looking for a Security Manager to join our Global Security Operations team in 30 Rock! This position is challenging yet rewarding, working alongside television professionals and talent. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall safety of the site, its employees, show guests and audience members. You are a hands‑on manager with strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee emergency evacuation procedures, active shooter training, and threat assessments
• Serve as a strong leader and mentor to the guard staff while managing the guard force during your tour, up to twenty personnel
• Oversee the training of the different areas of responsibilities for the guards
• Verify that the process of loading and unloading live studio audiences is consistent with our standard.
• Plan and execute drills with your team to ensure all staff are prepared to face multiple crisis scenarios.
• Assess current security posture of your team and adjust as needed in real time
• Verify that security devices and equipment are accounted for and in proper working order
• Proper documentation of all incidents
• Initiate preliminary investigations of incidents that may occur on your tour
• Serve as security point of contact during your tour
• Use of highly developed critical thinking skills to adapt adjusting security posture in real time.
• Flexible working on holidays and extended hours
• Provide security escorts for talent off property
• Perform Risk Assessments and Security Plan for special events and remote shoots
• Ability and willingness to travel nationally/internationally with Today Show for remote shoots.
• Effective supervision of contracted security during daily production and large-scale events.

Qualifications

• Experience in a supervisory role for staff or contracted employees.
• Experience managing a budget and working with vendors and consultants; demonstrated negotiating skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Operational experience and the ability to respond quickly to security concerns in real time.
• Must be willing to be on call and available 24/7 for emergencies

Desired Characteristics:

• Prior corporate security experience
• Established project management skills and experience
• Strong working knowledge of emerging trends of corporate security and/or law enforcement information managerial programs
• Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills, dealing effectively with all levels of management.
• Ability to build and sustain excellent relationships at multiple levels and across divisions
• Self‑motivated operator with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced and dynamic setting
• HR 218 or New York State Security License a plus
