Job summary

Mountain Chalet in Colorado Springs is seeking a Sales Floor Operations Manager to keep the floor moving, align staff, and ensure an authentic customer experience. You’ll be a conductor who blends Outfitter duties with coordination and guidance to energize a high-engagement sales floor.

This role suits someone passionate about specialty outdoor retail, gear immersion, and disciplined operations. Lead a cross-functional team and champion shop standards in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years outdoor specialty retail experience.
• Strong customer engagement, staff leadership, and training/scheduling skills.
• Deep knowledge of mountain-sport equipment (climbing, skiing, backpacking, mountain running).
• Hands-on merchandising, product placement, display resets, and visual upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Lead opening/closing routines, daily readiness, and morning meetings.
• Maintain floor awareness, staff coverage, and shift execution; act as an Outfitter when needed.
• Uphold Loss Prevention practices and Customer Service standards.
• Respond to manager calls, customer concerns and operational needs.
• Oversee special orders and online sales from order to fulfillment.
• Build and manage staff schedules for floor, operations, and events; ensure training and onboarding.
• Maintain tools and supplies to meet janitorial, merchandising, safety standards.

About the Role

The Sales Floor Operations Manager is the conductor of Mountain Chalet. You keep the floor moving, staff aligned, standards executed, and customer experience authentic. You will be part Outfitter, part coordinator, and part guide — ensuring every customer feels welcomed, supported, and connected.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in specialty outdoor retail, loves gear, and brings operational discipline to a high-engagement sales floor.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations

• Lead opening/closing routines, daily readiness, and morning meetings
• Maintain floor awareness, staff coverage, and shift execution; function as an Outfitter when required
• Uphold Loss Prevention practices and Customer Service Trail compliance
• Respond to manager calls, customer concerns, and operational needs
• Oversee special orders and online sales from order to fulfillment

Resource Management

• Build and manage staff schedules that provide sufficient coverage for floor, operations, project, and event execution while balancing employee needs with the Brand Promise; ensure training, onboarding, and performance management goals are met
• Maintain and organize tools & supplies to ensure janitorial, merchandizing, promotion, loss prevention, and safety standards are achieved

Department Supervision

• Execute physical experience and Customer Service Trail standards
• Ensure accurate pricing and MAP compliance
• Apply consistent, accurate merchandising standards and product mix through hands-on product placement, display resets, signage updates, and daily floor maintenance
• Function as an Outfitter with belayer and leader level engagement
• Assist with inventory purchases and support inventory management workflow
• Understand departments' financial contribution and recommend improvements

What You Bring

• 3+ years outdoor specialty retail experience
• Strong customer engagement, staff leadership skills, and staff training & scheduling
• Deep knowledge of mountain-sport equipment: climbing, skiing, backpacking, mountain running
• Strong, hands-on merchandising skills with fluency in product placement, display resets, and visual upkeep
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, POS/inventory systems, and Apple platforms; Shopify experience a plus
• Basic project management skills
• Ability to lift 75 lbs, climb ladders, and perform physical store tasks
