Qualifications

• Experience with restaurant POS workflows and third‑party delivery settlements is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end reconciliation of POS, third-party delivery, catering, and retail revenue activity across bakery locations.

• Perform and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of POS activity to bank deposits, credit card transactions, third‑party delivery settlements, cash activity, and the general ledger.

POSITION MISSION

The Manager, Retail Revenue Accounting leads Bagel Brands’ POS, third-party delivery (3PD), and catering sales reconciliation functions, ensuring the accurate, timely, and complete recording of sales and related financial activity across bakery locations.

As a working manager, this role combines hands‑on accounting responsibilities with day‑to‑day leadership of the team responsible for revenue reconciliation and accounting activities. The Manager performs and reviews key reconciliations, investigates complex variances, supports month‑end close, and develops team capability while strengthening the processes and controls that support accurate financial reporting.

This role partners closely with Finance, Operations, IT, Data Engineering, and other cross‑functional teams to resolve discrepancies, understand underlying business and system issues, and improve reporting, automation, integrations, and financial processes. Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

Retail Revenue Accounting & Reconciliation

• Lead the end‑to‑end reconciliation of POS, third‑party delivery, catering, and other retail revenue activity across bakery locations.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for POS sales accounting and related revenue reconciliation processes.
• Perform and/or oversee daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of POS activity to bank deposits, credit card transactions, third‑party delivery settlements, cash activity, and the general ledger.
• Investigate complex discrepancies, identify root causes, and drive timely resolution in partnership with appropriate business and technical teams.
• Ensure accurate and timely accounting for sales transactions in accordance with GAAP, ASC 606, Company policies, and established accounting procedures.
• Support month‑end close by ensuring reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and supporting documentation are completed accurately and within established timelines.
• Maintain appropriate controls and documentation supporting the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of retail revenue accounting.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of 2–3 team members responsible for POS and other revenue reconciliation and accounting activities.
• Establish priorities, workloads, deadlines, and performance expectations while balancing recurring responsibilities with emerging business needs.
• Review team reconciliations, journal entries, and accounting activity for accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Provide ongoing coaching, training, feedback, and development to strengthen technical capability, consistency, and operational continuity.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex reconciliation and operational issues, balancing speed, risk, accuracy, and business impact.
• Establish clear processes, documentation, controls, and division of responsibilities to support scalability and business continuity.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service‑oriented team environment.

Systems, Data & Cross‑Functional Partnership

• Partner with IT, Data Engineering, Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of POS and financial data.
• Develop a strong understanding of system interfaces and data flows to identify the source of reconciliation issues and support effective resolution.
• Partner with technical teams to troubleshoot integration, transaction, settlement, and reporting issues impacting revenue accounting.
• Support organizational changes, system implementations, integrations, and other initiatives affecting retail revenue processes.
• Communicate financial and operational issues clearly to stakeholders and provide appropriate recommendations for resolution.

Process Improvement & Controls

• Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls, simplify processes, improve reconciliation efficiency, and reduce manual work.
• Lead or support automation, transaction matching, reporting, and system enhancement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, reconciliation documentation, process maps, and controls.
• Analyze recurring discrepancies and process breakdowns to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
• Establish repeatable and scalable processes that support continued organizational growth and changing business needs.
• Perform additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting, finance, reconciliation, or financial systems experience with increasing responsibility.
• 2+ years of people leadership or team management experience.
• Strong accounting and reconciliation knowledge, including experience analyzing high‑volume transactions and resolving complex discrepancies.
• Experience working with large transaction volumes and multiple data sources with the ability to investigate discrepancies and determine root causes.
• Experience within a multi‑unit restaurant, QSR, food and beverage, hospitality, retail, franchise, or other high‑volume transaction environment.
• Experience with restaurant POS workflows and third‑party delivery settlement and reconciliation.
• Demonstrated experience supporting process improvements, automation initiatives, system implementations, or cross‑functional accounting projects.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and decision‑making skills.
• Technical aptitude with the ability to understand system interfaces, data flows, and their impact on financial processes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across financial, operational, and technical teams.

Preferred

• CPA certification.
• Experience with SAP ECC or another large‑scale ERP system.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, databases, or other data analysis and visualization technologies.
• Experience with reconciliation and close‑management platforms such as Trintech or FloQast.
• Experience implementing transaction matching, reconciliation, automation, or reporting solutions.
• Experience partnering directly with IT or Data Engineering on accounting system integrations and automation initiatives.
