Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Manager of Radiology & Imaging to oversee daily operations of the Radiology Department at West Jefferson Medical Center. The role partners with radiologists and referring providers to maintain high-quality imaging services, protocols, and patient care.

The candidate will lead technologists, oversee budgets, and drive quality, safety, and efficiency across modalities while advancing departmental initiatives and reporting to the Director of Radiology.

Qualifications

  • 5 years radiology/imaging diagnostic experience.
  • Licensed Radiology Technician in Louisiana.
  • ARRT Radiography Certification (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the overall daily operations of the Radiology Department.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to standardize protocols and ensure image quality.
  • Prepare payroll records, approve timecards, and monitor staffing against budget.
  • Lead process improvements and supervise direct reports.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and safety standards.

Job description

Under the direction of the Director of Radiology and the Radiologist, the Manager of Radiology & Imaging is responsible for assisting in administrative and technical duties in the department. Assists the Director of Radiology with overall daily operations of the Radiology Department. Maintains a high standard of medical ethics, requires initiative and independent judgement, and is self-motivated to increase knowledge of the field.

Day to Day
GENERAL DUTIES
Leadership
  • Assist with the overall daily operations of the Radiology Department.
  • Maintains and cultivates effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Collaborates with referring providers and radiologists to create standardized protocols and ensure consistency of protocols, image quality, and services provided throughout the Radiology department.
  • Prepares and maintains payroll records. Approves timecards and monitors hours worked to ensure appropriate staffing to meet budget and volume.
  • Participates in hiring, onboarding, orientation, and annual evaluations of direct reports.
  • Round on employees and discusses their performance, conduct, attendance, and other related matters. Utilizes "Just Culture" and supports the operational needs of the Radiology Department and parent organization.
Growth & Administration
  • Provides leadership and support to the technologists and registrars of the Radiology department.
  • Pursues professional and departmental growth and knowledge to enhance job performance.
  • Utilizes cost effective methods when making budgeting and purchasing decisions.
  • Prepares and reviews necessary reports and documents.
  • Volunteers and participates on committees and in hospital initiatives.
  • Leads process improvement initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.
Quality
  • Promotes quality customer service for external and internal customers. Responsible for service recovery.
  • Makes decisions, responds to problems, identifies errors, and takes corrective action when necessary.
  • Delegates tasks to direct reports and follows up to ensure completion of tasks assigned.
  • Responsible for maintaining radiologic services in accordance with standards established by the hospital’s governing board, state, local and federal regulations.
Customer Service
  • Serves as a super user for EPIC and works with the Radiant team to enhance the Radiology workflow.
  • Schedules adequate staffing to consistently ensure uninterrupted services. Consistently adheres to proper resource allocation and coordination.
  • Collaborates with other departments and department leaders to identify learning and growth opportunities. Develop related courses of action to help improve departmental service performance.
  • Recommends programs, monitoring, and location of warning or identifying devices in carrying out instructions of the Radiation Safety Officer.
  • Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and clinics regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in resolutions.
Must Haves
Experience Qualifications

5 years of radiology/imaging diagnostic experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Licensed Radiology Technician through the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners

Radiography Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist

American Heart Association Basic Life Support HeartSaver & First Aid

Skills And Abilities

Cross trained in multiple imaging modalities

Knowledge of RIS (Radiant)

EMR (EPIC) platforms

Familiar with GE imaging equipment
