Job summary

Abbott in Sylmar, CA, seeks a Manager of Quality Engineering Operations to lead QA professionals within the Cardiac Rhythm Management division. This fully onsite role manages sections, interprets policies, and drives quality improvements across products and processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in function or related field.
  • 2 years of direct supervisor experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies; ability to lead cross-functional projects; strong problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead QA professionals and oversee one or more quality sections or functions.
  • Interpret policies, processes and procedures affecting sections and units.
  • Develop and implement quality goals and maintain quality system effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and customers.
  • Support FDA and other agencies during NPD and validation efforts.
  • Oversee design controls and nonconformance/real-time data management.

The Opportunity

The Manager, Quality Engineering Operations position works out of our Sylmar, CA location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division.

This is a fully onsite role.

As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats.

The Manager, Quality Engineering Operations manages experienced QA professionals who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments. Often heads one or more sections/functions or a small quality department. Interprets policies , processes and procedures that may affect sections and subordinate work units. Assignments are defined in terms of activities and objectives. Work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives.

What You'll Work On
  • Interacts frequently with internal personnel and outside representatives at various levels.
  • Routinely operates as a liaison with customers and suppliers.
  • Participates and presents at meetings with internal and externals representatives.
  • Interaction typically concerns resolution of operational and scheduling issues.
  • Responsible for managing one or more quality system elements/functions as defined in the site Quality Manual.
  • Implements the quality plan in accordance with the quality objectives/goals and maintains the effectiveness of the quality system.
  • Recommends staffing and other necessary resource requirements needed to achieve business goals and compliance requirements.
  • Resolves project team issues with minimal oversight.
  • Responsible for ensuring that functional areas of responsibility have adequate training programs for adhering to all safety requirements and business EHS goals.
  • Manage the development and implementation of quality goals.
  • Merging leader that demonstrates strong leadership competencies.
  • Decision making that has impact on work processes and outcomes, that could cause serious delays and considerable expenditure of a additional time, human recourses and funds.
  • May define and implement critical parameter for design control and related systems throughout the product lines.
  • May oversee the Nonconformance and Real-time data management portions of the quality System.
  • May maintain effective Quality Metrics and define and execute activities to resolve decreases in performance.
  • May support NPD at all stages of development process and ensure its compliance to FDA and other agencies.
  • May assist R&D in validation of NPS tools.
Education And Experience You’ll Bring
  • Bachelors Degree Scientific or technical discipline Or An equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Masters Degree Preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in function or related field.
  • 2 years of direct supervisor experience.
  • Must have demonstrated solid knowledge and experience in discipline. Demonstrated leadership competencies. Considered a Subject Matter Expert . Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects. Flexibility, strong problem solving skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, solid organizational ability , negotiations skills with ability to drive cross functional teams. Emerging leader that demonstrates strong leadership competencies.
