Job summary

Buckhead & Newport Meat and Seafood is hiring a Production Manager to oversee the Production and Production Warehouse departments across multiple locations. You will manage budgets, plan resources, and drive employee engagement while serving as the IT/technical liaison for the unit.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Production/Manufacturing experience in a food environment with at least 2 years leading a team.
  • HACCP and GMP certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production plans to ensure orders are completed on time.
  • Determine headcount requirements and labor utilization to meet goals.
  • Schedule equipment and team resources to support each plan.
  • Track component yield rates to meet business goals.
  • Manage work order maintenance and ensure audits of periods.
  • Set and monitor department performance metrics to drive productivity.
  • Ensure metrics support business goals and benchmark against internal/external resources.
  • Develop and monitor annual department budgets and manage resources to meet goals.
  • Track expenses vs. budget and maintain alignment with financial targets.
  • Provide leadership across Production and Production Warehouse departments, ensuring policy compliance, quality and safety.
  • Coach Supervisors and teams to balance productivity, quality and customer service.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and lead employee relations and evaluations.
  • Establish performance goals and provide feedback; manage performance through motivation and development.
  • Take corrective action as necessary and coordinate training as needed.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and conduct regular department meetings for engagement.
  • Manage procurement of materials and services; serve as IT/telecom/systems contact for the unit.
  • Identify improvements and maintain cross-shift presence for operational continuity.
  • Coordinate safety activities and incident investigations to improve methods and inspections.

Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Production and Production Warehouse departments at multiple locations and is the key contact for all IT/technical issues. Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain production plans to ensure orders are completed on time
  • Determine the headcount requirements and labor utilization needed to achieve production and business goals
  • Schedule equipment and team resources needed to support each production plan
  • Track component yield rates ensuring that actual results meet or exceed business goals
  • Manage work order maintenance ensuring that work orders are audited and closed inappropriate fiscal periods
  • Set performance metrics for each department to track and monitor productivity
  • Ensure metrics support business goals
  • Benchmark metrics utilizing both internal and external resources
  • Develop and monitor annual department budgets
  • Plan and manage resources to achieve budget goals while delivering the required output
  • Track actual expenses vs budget
  • Assure that department expenses are in line with budget goals Direct, coordinate and monitor the daily activities & performance standards for Production and Production Warehouse departments to assure compliance of standard Company policies, procedures, quality, and safety
  • Coach and develop Supervisors and team in balancing the delivery of high productivity, quality and customer service
  • Maintain a positive and safe work environment. Oversee employee relations and participate in staff selection, performance and compensation evaluations, corrective action and terminations, as necessary
  • Establish performance goals, monitor progress and provide feedback as necessary
  • Manage employee performance through motivation, delegation, development, mentoring and resolving conflict
  • Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy
  • Develop, provide and/or coordinate training as needed
  • Consult with Human Resources Department as appropriate
  • Conduct regular department meetings to foster employee engagement, communicate any changes to company policies and procedures, address employee concerns, foster idea-sharing and suggestions for improvement
  • Order/procure materials and services as needed
  • Serve as key IT, telecom and systems contact for the business unit
  • Identify and implement key areas for improvement in each department
  • Maintain a presence and availability across all shifts
  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment by directing safety training, generating and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Coordinate emergency response or crisis management activities
  • Coordinate efforts with the Safety Department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and routine safety inspections
Qualifications
Education

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required

Bachelor of Science in a Business Management preferred

Experience

7+ years of Production and/or Manufacturing in a food environment of which at least 2 are leading a team. HACCP and GMP certifications preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear
  • The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • While this position will primarily work in a manufacturing environment, this position will require travel
  • There is periodic overnight travel required and specifically pertains to overseeing production launches, company events, staff meetings, training sessions & vendor fairs
  • May be required to utilize personal vehicle for business travel that may result in long periods of sitting
  • Must maintain a valid driver license and proof of automobile insurance coverage as set forth by Sysco
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • This position may require evening and weekend work depending on business needs
