Job summary

rag & bone is seeking an experienced and hands-on Manager of Product Development and Production for cut and sew knits to manage product creation across Men’s and Women’s categories. This role oversees development from concept through production, partnering with Design, Merchandising, and global vendors to source fabrics, washes, and trims meeting margin, quality, and timeline targets.

The Manager will handle costing, support the product calendar, and ensure every style is developed and delivered

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience in product development and production in cut & sew.
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Engineering, Product Development, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of knit yarns, fabrics, garment construction, trims, and wash development.
• Experience with global sourcing, including Asia and Latin America.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development for Men's and Women's cut & sew knits from concept to production.
• Coordinate with Design, Merchandising, R&D, mills, and factories to meet cost and timeline targets.
• Own production calendars, approvals, and shipments from proto to bulk delivery.
• Mentor junior associates and maintain cross-functional partnerships.

Job Summary

rag & bone is seeking an experienced and hands-on Manager of Product Development and Production for cut and sew knits to manage product creation across Men's and Women's categories. This role manages development from initial concept through production, partnering closely with Design, Merchandising, and global vendors to source fabrics, washes, and trims that meet margin, quality, and timeline targets. The Manager will manage the costing process and support the product calendar, and ensure every style is developed and delivered with accuracy and efficiency while maintaining the creativity and integrity of the brand.

Responsibilities

Product Development

• Lead end to end development for Men's and Women's cut & sew knits – sourcing, sampling, costing, and counter-sourcing – with a focus on consistency and quality at every stage

• Partner with R&D Managers, mills, and factories to develop raw materials aligned with costing and sourcing strategy across gender categories

• Track development timelines to ensure products are delivered on time and within our costing strategy

• Manage pricing and costing accuracy from proto through production, tracking timelines and updating charts as designs evolve

• Coordinate daily with global suppliers and overseas offices on product expectations, technical requirements, status, and open issues

• Support the team's day-to-day workload (BOM creation, liability management, tracking files) and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with Design, Merchandising, and Tech Design

• Build and maintain development calendars and factory/vendor charts, ensuring clean, on-time handoffs to production

• Mentor and provide day-to-day guidance to junior associates on development tasks

Production

• Manage bulk production for Men's and Women's Knits from handoff through on-time delivery, ensuring every style meets quality and cost targets

• Own production calendars end to end – yarn and color approvals, protos, SMS, testing and bulk delivery

• Partner with factories and overseas offices daily to monitor status and proactively resolve delays or quality issues

• Review and approve bulk submissions in partnership with Fabric, Design and Tech teams

• Own purchase order accuracy – style, color, quantity, and pricing – across all systems

• Partner with logistics on shipment bookings and delivery windows

• Support and help coordinate pre-production meetings with factories on construction, quality standards, and timelines

• Monitor bulk QC and lab test results; partner with Technical Design and QA to resolve compliance or quality issues

• Manage bulk costing reconciliation and flag price variances against confirmed costs

Costing Management

• Maintain costing in ERP systems throughout development and production

• Manage costing presentations at development and production milestones

• Identify and troubleshoot costing challenges in partnership with Design and Merchandising

• Support cost negotiations at the style level with vendors

Requirements

• 4-6 years of experience in product development and production, with strong exposure to cut & sew categories

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Engineering, Product Development, or related field

• Strong understanding of knit yarns, fabrications, garment construction, trims, and wash development

• Working knowledge of global sourcing; hands-on experience with sourcing in Asia and Latin America preferred

• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills

• Ability to manage multiple categories and deadlines in a fast-paced, creative environment

• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with Miro, PLM DeSL and ERP systems is a plus

• Ability to travel to vendors, trade shows, and factories as needed

• Hands‑on approach and entrepreneurial mindset are crucial to the success of this role
