Job summary

SUN PHARMA is looking for a Manager, Procurement in Cranbury Township, NJ, responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies for Indirect Materials. This role involves leading a team of Buyers to ensure supplier performance and achieve business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in a Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment and must demonstrate excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Compensation includes a base pay of $95,000 to $105,500 along with various benefits including medical, dental, and a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years related experience in a Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Minimum 4+ years of managerial experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective follow‑up skills.

Job description

The Manager, Procurement will be responsible for the development and execution of a purchasing strategy for Indirect Materials and for ensuring optimal supplier performance. The role leads and manages a team of Buyers located in New Jersey and Massachusetts to achieve business objectives. The Manager develops and implements procedures to ensure the team operates in line with business needs, adding value, mitigating supply chain risk, and delivering cost savings. The position works alongside senior management to contribute to overall business strategies and goals.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Develop and communicate a procurement business plan; establish, communicate, and implement long‑term goals for the department to promote effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure all material requirements are delivered on time, in the right quantity, and with best quality.
  • Manage current procurement policies, procedures and programs with a focus on enhancing organizational value and efficiency.
  • Communicate with Planning, Inventory Control, Quality Control, and Warehouse regarding delivery updates and urgent needs.
  • Enhance policies and procedures through collaboration with other departments.
  • Monitor, review, and analyze bids and quotes with suppliers to make effective decisions.
  • Maintain company budget, streamline costs, and develop a centralized procurement program that adds value and efficiency to the organization.
  • Develop, communicate, and administer procurement team performance and development plans.
  • Implement procurement‑related supply agreements and service contracts.
  • Conduct business review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future strategies, and identify cost‑reduction and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Vendor Management to qualify and certify vendors.
  • Support Compliance with all vendor‑related investigations.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement to drive performance and business results.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with strategic suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise procurement managers responsible for day‑to‑day category management activities.
  • Oversee the development and execution of sourcing strategies across all categories within scope of control, including targets, timelines, and resource plans.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Show commercial and financial acumen with experience managing budgets.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years related experience in a Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Minimum 4+ years of managerial experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong judgment in planning, prioritizing, and organizing a diversified workload.
  • Ability to anticipate and plan for needs of production and other departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent, effective follow‑up skills on multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work with all levels of employees and manage vendor relations effectively.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively in a team‑based environment.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, SAP.
  • Organized, motivated, disciplined, and results‑oriented.
Additional Requirements
  • 5 days per week in‑office.
  • Up to 25% travel.
Compensation and Benefits

The presently‑anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $95,000 to $105,500. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. This position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in company benefit programs that include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) savings plan; flexible spending accounts; and an employee assistance program. Employees also receive paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time. Compensation and benefits described above are subject to the terms and conditions of governing plans, policies, practices, agreements, or other material or documents in effect from time to time, including any eligibility conditions. The employee will be in an “at‑will position” and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (and other discretionary payments or compensation programs) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company performance, or market factors.
