Job summary

OCI TerraSus in New York state seeks an experienced Manager, Safety & Health to lead our occupational safety, health, and environmental (SHE) programs. You will ensure regulatory compliance, foster a strong safety culture, and implement policies to prevent incidents and health hazards.

You will collaborates with management, supervisors, and staff to develop and continuously improve safety systems, risk management, trainings, audits, and emergency plans while supervising the Safety & Health team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in occupational safety and health management.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience in safety and health.
  • Certified Safety and Health Officer (SHO) or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety audits.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver safety training programs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • High integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and review safety and health policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations and standards.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments.
  • Lead incident and accident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor safety performance indicators and prepare safety reports for management.
  • Coordinate safety audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, auditors, and stakeholders.
  • Organize and conduct safety training, awareness programs, and toolbox meetings.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and coordinate drills.
  • Maintain proper safety records and reports.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop the Safety & Health team.
  • Promote continuous improvement in safety practices and health initiatives.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to processes and equipment safety.

Job Overview

The Manager, Safety & Health Section is responsible for leading and managing the organization’s occupational safety, health, and environmental (SHE) programs. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, promotes a strong safety culture, and implements policies and procedures to prevent workplace accidents and health hazards.

The position works closely with management, supervisors, and employees to develop, implement, and continuously improve safety systems, risk management strategies, and workplace health initiatives.

Job Description
  • Develop, implement, and review safety and health policies, procedures, and programs.

Job Requirement
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in occupational safety and health management.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience in safety and health.
  • Certified Safety and Health Officer (SHO) or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations and best practices.
  • Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety audits.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver safety training programs.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in preparing safety reports and documentation.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
