Position Summary
Responsible for the Banner Pricing team, i.e., Pricing Analysts, Revionics, Budget/Forecast Analysts, Pricing Execution. This includes providing support for the pricing functions that reside within the Category teams. Will lead the budgeting and forecasting process of sales, margin, shrink and vendor allowances at different levels of the category hierarchy. Provide leadership direction for a team that provides analytical support to the Category teams and Senior leadership around key metrics and strategy. Will work collaboratively with Category and Merchandising to ensure that budgeted financial targets and actual performance align with Banner strategies.
Principle Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide day to day direction for implementation and support of strategies and initiatives of Category, Merchandising and Pricing (CMP) strategies.
- Responsible for the budgeting/forecasting/target setting of sales, margin, vendor allowances, shrink and other metric at the chain level, department level as well as super category level.
- Work collaboratively with Finance and Business Planning along with Category leadership to set appropriate targets.
- Allocate Sales and develop budgets and forecasts by Category that will roll-up into a single budget for the CMP organization.
- Develop, implement and evolve a reporting process that will monitor the weekly, monthly and quarterly Banner performance of key financial metrics.
- Inform CMP leadership of favorable and unfavorable gaps along with recommendations to close the gaps across the portfolio.
- Develop consistent reporting and analysis/insights for CMP leadership that will include, but not be limited to:
- Strategic reporting for Banner specific issues in support of CMP
- Banner specific indexing, presented in a strategic manner, to assist with day to day pricing decisions
- Responsible for the ad planning process. Work collaboratively with Category, Sales Plan and Marketing to ensure an accurate flyer is delivered weekly for the Banner.
- Work with Vestcom (tag and signage vendor) and marketing to ensure the execution of new programs and tags.
- Lead a team of associates, across varying disciplines, that will:
- Work across the category teams to train the Banner Pricing Strategy, the use of the pricing systems (Revionics, SEGA, ICPAS and MSP) and the processes that will deliver the strategy to the shelf and allow us to achieve our key financial metrics of sales, shrink, margin, share, etc.
- o Provide regular reporting along with insights of key financial metrics.
- Oversee the gathering of competitive data and tactical banner index reporting.
- Work with Marketing and the Category teams to build a weekly flyer and manage the execution of promotional pricing programs such as WOW and Hot Features.
- Support the retail based scan file coordinators when they experience issues with price related attributes and processes. These range from unit of measure issues, WIC item investigation and survey completion, timing of price changes, etc.
- Responsible for managing category price zone shifts from a timing and execution perspective.
- Work collaboratively with Merchandising, Governance & Planning (MGP) groups to ensure consistent processes are used for Integrated Business Planning (IBP).
- Facilitate the IBP process at the Banner level.
- Provide leadership that will motivate employees and function as an effective promoter of change and growth.
- Provide support for the implementation of a continuous improvement culture
- Keep abreast of business processes and technology development and/or enhancement pertaining to Revionics and other pricing systems so that their team is able to train the Pricing Analysts on the Category teams.
- Lead and/or serve as a member of key teams and committees as needed
- Responsible for the development, talent planning and performance management of associates.
Basic Qualifications & Preferred Qualifications
Seasoned level of knowledge for company, business and industry practices
- Strong financial planning and budgeting experience
- Cross-functional leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to build cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated management expertise
- Demonstrated relationship management experience with vendors, brokers and third-party consultants
- Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA)
- Experience with organizational change management
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years combined experience in retail, merchandising, category, pricing, logistics, supply chain, procurement, and distribution
- Strong financial planning and budgeting experience
- Cross-functional leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to build cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated management expertise
- Demonstrated relationship management experience with vendors, brokers and third-party consultants
- Demonstrated consistent ability with time management and attention to detail
- Seasoned level of knowledge for company, business and industry practices
