Job summary

Flowserve Corporation is seeking a functional manager to lead the day-to-day Planning function at the Springville, Utah site. You will drive master scheduling, parts planning, production planning, and control to support the Annual Operating Plan and performance objectives.

You will coach and develop the Planning team, ensure safety and compliance, and collaborate cross-functionally to meet on-time delivery and customer requirements. Travel is expected to be under 20%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, or business-related field.
  • Strong root cause problem-solving and analytical skills using DMAIC or similar frameworks.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency, with business systems experience such as MRP and ERP.
  • Strong verbal, written, and public-speaking communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen, understand, and lead others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, strategic and tactical direction to the Planning team to support business objectives.
  • Establish and maintain an effective team communication and performance management process to ensure daily visibility, standard work confirmation, proactive problem solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Direct production planning, materials, capacity, and scheduling requirements, using sales forecast to drive right-sized inventory levels through forecasting and SIOP.
  • Develop a Plan for Every Part (PFEP) to minimize inventory and maintain material flow, including transaction history management, reorder and safety stock strategies.
  • Develop projects to improve overall inventory levels, on-time delivery, and past due metrics.
  • Strategically engage with sales and commercial operations to maintain market lead times by forecasting inventory and managing capacity.
  • Create production schedules and prioritize for production optimization of capacity, productivity, on-time delivery, and customer expectations.
  • Maintain planning BOMs in the ERP system.
  • Use data analytics to support planning and operations teams in KPI development.
  • Monitor and manage obsolete and excess inventories.
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration within the materials teams and across the facility.
  • Develop a culture of employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, accountability, and job satisfaction to make the site an employer of choice.
  • Attract, identify, develop, and retain talent to support the site’s talent management philosophy.
  • Lead implementation of employee training programs and career development activities to enhance performance capabilities.
  • Continuously evaluate team structure, staffing levels, and capabilities to ensure resources match operating plans.
  • Demonstrate unwavering commitment to the company’s values, driving a high-performance culture.
  • Maintain strict adherence to the Code of Conduct and flow down expectations throughout the Materials organization.

Role Summary

This functional manager role leads the day‑to‑day Planning function of the Springville site, supporting the site’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and all associated performance objectives. The role oversees material flow processes and is responsible for master scheduling, parts planning, production planning, and production control. Leadership ensures compliance with customer and engineering requirements, a safe work environment, employee development, and adherence to the project execution plan to support on‑time delivery. The leader must demonstrate and coach an enterprise leadership mindset, facilitating process and cultural transformation across the site. Travel is expected to be less than 20%.

Primary Responsibilities

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, or business‑related field (10 years of planning leadership experience in an engineered manufacturing business may be accepted in lieu of a degree for internal candidates).
  • Strong root cause problem‑solving and analytical skills using DMAIC or similar frameworks.
  • MicrosoftExcel proficiency, with business systems experience such as MRP and ERP.
  • Strong verbal, written, and public‑speaking communication skills.

Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management.
  • CPIM (Certification in Production and Inventory Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional).
  • PowerBI proficiency and Oracle proficiency.
  • Previous experience in engineered‑to‑order (ETO) industry.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and schematics.
