Job summary

Mastercard seeks a Manager, Payroll to lead all payroll-related activities across mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. You will partner with M&A COE, regional payroll teams, and external vendors to ensure seamless transitions and compliant payroll delivery globally.

Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of multi-country payroll operations, compliance, and controls.
  • Experience working with HRIS and payroll platforms (Workday, ADP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience leading payroll integrations during acquisitions or divestitures.
  • Experience working in a shared services or global business services organization.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax, mobility, equity, and international payroll practices.

Title and Summary Manager, Payroll Position Overview

The Manager, Payroll is responsible for leading all payroll-related activities, partnering closely with the M&A COE, regional Payroll Operations teams, P&C, Finance, Tax, Workday Technology, and external vendors to ensure seamless employee transitions and payroll continuity throughout the M&A lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Operations & Systems Integration
  • Lead payroll execution of workstream activities
  • Oversee payroll implementation, testing, and stabilization activities to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery for all new mergers, acquisitions and divestitures
  • Partner with Workday Product & Engineering team, Payroll Operations, M&A COE and external providers to ensure successful technical implementation.
Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure payroll integrations comply with local, state, federal, and international regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness throughout integration activities.
  • Identify and mitigate payroll compliance risks associated with acquisitions and divestitures.
Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with M&A COE to maintain payroll integration playbooks, templates, and best practices.
  • Incorporate lessons learned into future integrations.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline integration activities and improve scalability.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
