Scripps Health is seeking a Manager of Patient Care for the 57-bed Trauma Medical Surgical and Stepdown Unit at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. The role oversees approximately 12 direct reports and requires 5 years of clinical experience plus 2 years of leadership experience.

The manager will lead staffing, bed placement, and patient flow processes, ensuring safe care transitions and collaboration with Trauma leadership.

We invite you to join our highly engaged team in the 57 bed Trauma Medical Surgical and Stepdown (Trauma, Medical, Surgical, Stroke) Unit as a Manager of Patient Care.

This role has approximately 12 direct reports. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, engaged, inspiring and resilient leader with 5 years of clinical experience and 2 years of leadership experience. This leader must have excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning, and follow-through. Must be able to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.

The Manager of Patient Care creates and maintains an environment that assures nursing practice reflects established standards of care and practice and a culture that promotes patient safety. They are responsible for the daily operations of the Stepdown / Trauma Med Surg Unit including:

• Creating and managing staffing plans and ensuring appropriate equipment and resources are available to staff to do their job.
• Ensures appropriate and timely use of bed placement technology and adherence to care processes for bed placement/patient transfer/patient transport/room cleaning and patient discharge.
• Ensures the safe transition of patients thru the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to next appropriate level of care.
• Accountable for meeting operational budgets for the assigned department.
• Collaboration with Trauma Leadership and Providers

This is a Full Time, Salaried, position located at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
