Job summary

Sappi is seeking a senior Production Manager to lead and further develop the production organization across the Paper Machine, Coating, and Rewinder departments. You will manage multiple leaders and technical specialists and drive safety, quality, and cost efficiency.

You will apply expertise in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement, optimize staffing and KPIs, and contribute to product qualifications and launches.

Qualifications

• University degree in Paper Technology, Process Engineering or comparable
• Experience leading managers and large production organizations
• Proficient in SAP, ABB systems, and MS Office
• Strong knowledge of paper manufacturing processes with industrial experience
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and KPI management
• Strong change management and communication skills
• Strategic mindset with ability to execute
• High focus on safety, quality and cost efficiency

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the production organization across Paper Machine, Coating and Rewinder departments
• Ensure safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) standards are maintained and improved
• Optimize production processes for output and product quality
• Drive technical and technological improvements in the production line
• Optimize workforce deployment and staffing levels
• Implement Operational Excellence objectives and train staff
• Promote Lean and Continuous Improvement via KPI management and structured improvements
• Manage costs, budgets, raw materials, and workforce planning
• Lead production trials and technical optimization projects
• Support product qualifications, launches, and ongoing optimization of products
• Assist in production program planning

Job description

In this role you will lead and further develop the production organization, managing multiple leaders and technical specialists across the Paper Machine, Coating and Rewinder departments.

Responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for the Paper Production area
• Responsibility for maintaining and continuously improving standards in Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ)
• Ensuring an optimal production process with regard to output volume and product quality
• Contributing to technical and technological improvements and the further development of the production line
• Ensuring optimal workforce deployment in terms of qualifications and staffing levels
• Implementing Operational Excellence objectives and training employees within the area of responsibility
• Promoting a sustainable Lean and Continuous Improvement culture through KPI management, employee development, and structured improvement processes
• Managing costs, budget control, raw material planning, and workforce planning
• Leading and supporting technical optimization projects and production trials to improve quality, runnability, and efficiency
• Supporting product qualifications, product launches, and the continuous optimization of existing products
• Assisting in the preparation of the production program

Profile:

• Successfully completed university degree in Paper Technology, Process Engineering, or a comparable Eudcation
• Proven experience in leading managers and larger production organizations
• Proficient in SAP, ABB systems, and common MS Office applications
• Strong knowledge of paper manufacturing processes and extensive experience in industrial paper production
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and KPI management
• Strong change management and communication skills
• Strategic mindset combined with a strong ability to execute
• High focus on safety, quality, and cost efficiency
• Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
