CLA, a top 10 national professional services firm, seeks a Manager/Director – Sales & Use Tax to join our State & Local Tax practice in Washington. You will drive SALT growth, manage projects, and work with leadership to develop staff and client relationships.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, 6 years of relevant experience, and CPA (EA or JD may be accepted in lieu of CPA). The compensation range in Washington is $118,000–$199,000.

Responsibilities

• Drive SALT growth with State & Local Tax leadership, focusing on sales & use tax consulting projects.
• Manage SALT projects including nexus studies, restructuring opportunities, voluntary disclosure proceedings, and return reviews.
• Represent clients in negotiations with taxing authorities and provide review support for SALT filings as needed.
• Develop staff and contribute to growing the SALT team; collaborate with Industry leaders and NTO on thought leadership.
• Ensure CLA risk management policies are followed, including engagement setup, billing, and document retention.

CLA is currently seeking a Manager/Director – Sales & Use Tax to join our State & Local Tax (SALT) practice.

How you’ll create opportunities in this Manager/Director – Sales & Use Tax role:

• Working closely with State and Local Tax and National Leadership you will help drive SALT growth both internally and externally, with a focus on sales & use tax consulting projects, while identifying Seamless opportunities for CLA.
• Manage SALT sales & use tax projects while identifying opportunities for client growth, and risk mitigation in a myriad of projects including, but not limited to, nexus studies; restructuring opportunities; voluntary disclosure agreement proceedings; PL 86-282 studies; and return review for refund opportunities.
• Represent clients in negotiations with taxing authorities in connection with sales & use tax audits; state tax notices; Amnesty programs; voluntary disclosure agreement programs.
• Identify clients and targets for SALT’s sales & use tax compliance center and provide review support for sales & use tax return filings, on an as-needed basis.
• Develop staff (associates and senior associates) and continue to assist with growing and training the SALT team.
• Partner with Industry leaders and NTO to develop thought leadership for sales & use tax
• Serve as a resource to CLA’s national Transaction Tax Services team to consult from a SALT perspective on M&A deals.
• Meet with/build relationships with CRLs and industry leads to drive SALT growth and brand SALT internally and externally.
• Contribute to SALT’s growth plans and national growth network initiatives, including recruiting efforts.
• Serve as a leader to ensure all CLA risk management policies and procedures, including engagement set-up; client billing and collections; and document retention policies are followed and that the SALT staff are trained and aware of all policies.

What You Will Need
