Job summary

Yusen Logistics Americas Inc. is seeking a Manager of Operations Training & Development to lead the corporate Operations Academy and drive standardized onboarding across the Contract Logistics Group.

You will partner with Operations, HR, Safety, Quality, Engineering, IT, and Customer Success to strengthen associate readiness, adherence to SOPs, and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; equivalent education or experience considered.
  • Five+ years of progressive leadership in warehouse, distribution, or supply chain ops.
  • Experience developing and managing training/workforce development programs.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, safety, quality, and SOPs.
  • Experience with LMS, training databases, or learning tech preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and continuous improvement of the Yusen Operations Academy.

Overview

The Manager, Operations Training & Development is responsible for leading the Yusen Operations Academy and developing organizational capability across the Contract Logistics Group (CLG) through standardized onboarding, operational training, leadership development, certification programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position serves as the operational owner of the Academy by developing enterprise training standards, learning content, best practices, and governance while partnering with Operations, Human Resources, Safety, Quality, Engineering, and Customer Success teams to improve associate readiness, operational consistency, employee engagement, and leadership development across the organization.

The position supports new business implementations, facility startups, customer expansions, operational transformations, and continuous improvement initiatives by delivering scalable and sustainable learning solutions that strengthen operational excellence throughout Yusen Logistics.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of the Yusen Operations Academy across the Contract Logistics Group.
  • Develop and maintain standardized onboarding programs for hourly associates, team leads, supervisors, managers, and operational leaders.
  • Design and maintain operational curriculum, certification programs, work instructions, quick reference guides, visual training materials, instructional videos, simulation-based learning, and digital learning content.
  • Own the Learning Management System (LMS), training records, certification tracking, compliance reporting, and skills validation process.
  • Develop enterprise standards for operational onboarding, process training, cross-training, leadership development, and certification programs.
  • Support new customer implementations, facility startups, acquisitions, operational transitions, and major process changes through structured training and operational readiness programs.
  • Develop and administer Train-the-Trainer programs that empower local facilities to sustain Academy standards while maintaining operational ownership.
  • Create leadership development programs that strengthen succession planning and prepare future operational leaders.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Safety, Quality, Engineering, IT, and Operations to ensure all training aligns with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Utilize operational metrics, audits, observations, and performance data to evaluate training effectiveness and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify, document, and standardize operational best practices across the CLG network and integrate those practices into Academy curriculum.
  • Facilitate classroom instruction, leadership workshops, operational simulations, hands-on training, and virtual learning events.
  • Support Kaizen initiatives by developing training solutions that reinforce standardized work, process discipline, and operational excellence.
  • Travel to operational locations as required to support Academy deployment, operational assessments, customer implementations, and leadership development initiatives.
  • Serve as the Contract Logistics Group subject matter expert for operational learning, workforce development, and organizational capability.
Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Travel throughout the Contract Logistics Group network as required.
  • Develop and deliver classroom instruction, hands-on operational training, and leadership development programs.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, training materials, and operational documentation.
  • Analyze operational performance data to identify training opportunities and measure program effectiveness.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute multiple projects while meeting established deadlines.
  • Build collaborative relationships with Operations, Human Resources, Safety, Quality, Engineering, IT, and customers.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, leadership sessions, and operational assessments.
  • Maintain training records, certification documentation, and Academy reporting.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
Required Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in both office and warehouse environments.
  • Frequent travel to distribution centers throughout the Contract Logistics Group network.
  • Required use of appropriate PPE while conducting warehouse observations and operational training.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while facilitating classroom instruction and hands‑on operational coaching.
  • Occasional lifting of training materials or equipment up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to safely observe warehouse operations while coaching associates and validating operational processes.
  • Regular use of computers, presentation equipment, learning technologies, and collaboration platforms.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, professional training, and progressive operational leadership experience will also be considered.
  • Five or more years of progressive leadership experience within warehouse, fulfillment, distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, delivering, and managing operational training or workforce development programs.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, safety programs, quality systems, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), training databases, certification tracking, or learning technologies preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Microsoft Office Suite, and operational reporting tools.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and influence leaders and associates across multiple organizational levels.
  • Multi-site operational support experience preferred.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, or similar operational excellence experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 40-50% based on business requirements.
