JOB SUMMARY

The position is responsible for organizing and directing activities of the Harmon Building #33 storerooms under his/her purview by providing complete and continuous oversight and support of all aspects of warehousing, logistics, security, employee relations, safeguarding Inventory stock investments, program overhauls and rehabilitations-oriented material dissemination, and managing space allocation plans.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in managing Metro-North's Inventory and Warehousing efforts at the Harmon Building #33 Storeroom. This is accomplished through management oversight of the Harmon Building #33 and North White Plains locations and overseeing Agreement staff.
  • Plan and direct all storeroom activities of inventory control actions involving receipt, storage, issuance, cycle counts, and delivery efforts. Dictates redeployment efforts for critical operational initiatives to ensure support to operations.
  • Manages the warehousing and distribution efforts associated with parts and components needed for Capital Programs. Coordinates the flow of material for Production efforts with customers and Material Planning staff. Provides internal customers with necessary emergency material needs for the purpose of ensuring the coordination and efficient operational delivery of material and equipment in support of MNR Operating Departments.
  • Manages the execution of warehouse Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring standard practices for the efficiency of operations. Manages Employee Development and training efforts for all Agreement staff under his/her supervision. Manages the administration of employee discipline to ensure consistency to policy. Promotes and manages the development and application of safety programs for a safe work warehousing environment which will achieve safety goals. Ensures inventory investments are appropriately safeguarded and that cycle count procedures are followed.
  • Supervises and maintains storeroom operations within operating budgets and in accordance with department objectives, which includes overtime analysis.
  • Resolves issues that arise between using departments concerning inventory allocation, keeping Senior Manager informed.

  • Observes the work performed by contractors, as applicable
  • Reviews invoices and approves them if the work has contractual standards, as applicable
  • Addresses performance issues with the contractor when possible, as applicable
  • Escalates issues to other parties when needed, as applicable
Required:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of Material Management and Warehousing methods and procedures.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)in Business, Finance, Economics, Transportation or Engineering. Demonstrated equivalent experience, education and/or technical credentials may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of, material management, related to perpetual inventory systems, including management and/or supervisory positions
  • Minimum 3 years managing a diverse workforce
The Following Is/are Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) in Business, Finance, Economics, Transportation or Engineering.

  • Pursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the “Commission”).
  • Final salary is determined experience, skillset, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve.
  • Employees driving company vehicleswill be subject to License Monitoring andmust complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MTA drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
  • To be eligible for consideration for a new role, current MTA employees must complete at least one year of service in their current role prior to applying. Additionally, eligibility to interview is contingent upon maintaining a satisfactory record of job performance, attendance, and disciplinary conduct.
