Job summary

AMPAC Fine Chemicals (AFC), an SK pharmteco company, is a custom manufacturer of APIs and intermediates in Rancho Cordova, CA. The Operations Manager will oversee production teams, ensure compliance with policies and contracts, manage training and investigations, and drive manufacturing readiness for new production starts.

The role requires leadership of exempt and non-exempt staff, adherence to bargaining union agreements, and coordination of policies and scheduling to meet operational goals.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of exempt and non-exempt production employees
• Interpret and enforce policies affecting supervision and union groups
• Ensure production activities comply with AMPAC policies, regulations and union contracts
• Establish operating policies for multi-level teams
• Provide assistance to staff in meeting schedules or resolving problems
• Administer the training program for staff
• Conduct performance, quality, environmental and safety investigations
• Issue discipline as required
• Uphold rules per company policies and union contracts
• Coordinate union contract administration including grievances and interpretation
• Track yearly operations goals and perform evaluations
• Maintain contacts with internal and external representatives on projects
• Apply manufacturing procedures to plan resources and processes
• Diagnose workflow impediments and advise on waste-elimination tools
• Plan and coordinate shift operations
• Coordinate for facilities including cleaning, maintenance and contractor work
• Support customer or regulatory facility tours
• Represent manufacturing in cross-functional meetings on standards
• Complete operations readiness reviews for production starts
• Participate in continuous improvement related to quality, safety and environment

Salary Range: $130,000.00 To $140,000.00 Annually

AMPAC Fine Chemicals (AFC), an SK pharmteco company, is a custom manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs, Drug Substances) and registered intermediates for customers in the pharmaceutical industry. Our integrated facilities located in California, Texas, and Virginia specialize in process development, scale-up, and cGMP compliant production from kilograms to multi-ton quantities.

The Operations Manager is responsible for completing all supervisor roles and responsibilities:

BU/Exempt Management:

• Oversight of exempt and non-exempt production employees
• Interpret and execute policies that typically affect the supervision and union employee groups and recommend modifications to operating policies when necessary
• Assures that all production activities are accomplished in accordance with AMPAC policies, sound business practices and are in compliance with applicable regulations as well as all bargaining union contract agreements
• Establishes operational policies which affect subordinate multi-level functional groups. Interprets, executes and recommends policy changes
• Provide assistance to subordinates in meeting schedules or to resolve operational problems
• Administrator of the training program to ensure that all staff receives the appropriate level of training to perform job functions
• Responsible for completing performance, quality, environmental and safety investigations
• Issuing discipline for BU and non-BU employees as required
• Uphold rules and regulations in accordance with company policies and bargaining union contract agreements
• May be responsible for union contract administration including responding to grievances and understanding contract interpretation and negotiation
• Responsible for tracking operations yearly goals and performing performance evaluations as required
• Maintains contacts with inter-organizational and external representatives. May participate in briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives concerning specific and/or organizational projects or operations
• Responsible for the application of manufacturing procedures which include planning and supervising of resources to support processing requirements
• Promote and facilitate diagnosis of work flow impediments and other wastes throughout the manufacturing areas and provide counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them
• Plan and coordinate work programs for shift operations based on engineering needs
• Provide planning and coordination for manufacturing operations/facilities including equipment and facility cleaning, maintenance and contractor work
• Provide support for customer or regulatory tours of the manufacturing facilities
• Represent manufacturing in meetings and discussions with other functional areas regarding manufacturing standards and operations
• Responsible for completing operations readiness review for production starts

Quality

• Participate in corrective and preventative action plans as relates to quality including participating in designing solutions, delegating tasks or the completion of actions
• Audit preparedness of production facilities and all associated production quality documents

  Safety

  • Management and oversight of environmental programs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Will partake in safety and environmental corrective and preventative action plans. Such duties will involve designing solutions, delegating tasks, or completion of actions
