Enloe Health in Chico, CA seeks a Chief Pharmacist to provide clinical leadership and distribution oversight in the Pharmacy Department. This role collaborates with the Director of Pharmacy to schedule staff, evaluate performance, and ensure safe storage and preparation of medications.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chief Pharmacist is responsible for providing the clinical judgment, professional knowledge, and distribution skills in the Pharmacy Department to assure that patients receive pharmaceutical care that is consistent with the mission of the department and the hospital. The Chief Pharmacist identifies, resolves, and prevents drug-related problems. They work with the Director of Pharmacy to prepare work schedules, evaluate performance of pharmacy personnel, or participate in the interview process of prospective staff. The Chief Pharmacist ensures the proper storage and preparation of medication at their assigned pharmacy. These activities are performed within the context of established policies, procedures and techniques of Enloe Medical Center, the Enloe Medical Center Pharmacy, and federal and state standards and regulations.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
Able to register with the Board of Pharmacy as the Pharmacist-In-Charge at their location
Desired:
One year of hospital experience in an inpatient, decentralized setting
Computer experience with pharmacy programs and with Windows
Demonstrated application of drug knowledge and clinical judgment
One year experience in supervision of pharmacy staff and operational responsibility
LICENSES / CERTIFICATION:
Minimum:
Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in good standing by the State of California
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Ability to organize and formulate work schedules to meet the requirements of the department. Ability to objectively evaluate staff performance. Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to exercise sound professional judgment. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
