A well-established, client-focused wealth management and advisory firm is seeking a Manager of Tax Strategy to join its Wealth Planning team. This is a unique role for a tax professional who's ready to step away from traditional compliance work and apply their expertise in a broader, more strategic capacity. Rather than preparing returns, this person will serve as the firm's internal tax authority — advising advisors, educating teams, engaging with clients, and helping shape the planning strategies delivered to a high-net-worth clientele. This role is based in Dallas, TX with remote work flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the firm's primary internal tax resource, reviewing inquiries related to tax returns, planning strategies, and general tax matters, and conducting research as needed to provide clear, accurate guidance to advisors and internal teams
- Develop tax-focused content including articles, presentations, and guides for use with clients and prospects
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting high-net-worth clients and communicate relevant updates across the firm
- Develop tax-focused training materials and educational resources for internal teams
- Assist the wealth planning team with the creation of checklists, decision trees, and process guides
- Attend internal meetings with advisory and business development teams to provide tax planning guidance and contribute to client-specific strategy development
- Participate in client and prospect meetings as needed to provide subject-matter expertise on tax planning, regulatory updates, and their implications for the overall financial picture
- Assist in sourcing and evaluating third-party tax advisors for firm partnerships
- Support broader wealth planning initiatives and internal projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA required; CFP preferred
- 6+ years of relevant experience
- 4+ years of tax preparation or audit experience, with familiarity with ultra-high-net-worth individuals strongly preferred
- Experience preparing or auditing complex personal and business tax returns
- Experience developing and communicating tax mitigation strategies to clients
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage large projects and prioritize workload effectively
- Competitive base salary and bonus potential tied to firm and individual performance
- 401(k) with employer contribution
- Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and HSA with employer contribution
- 15 days PTO to start, increasing after year two
- Volunteer time off
- Telecommuting opportunities
- Employer reimbursement for professional designations and continuing education
- Complimentary financial planning services for employees and their spouses
- Collaborative culture with year-round team events
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced tax professional looking to make a broader impact — advising on strategy, influencing planning outcomes, and operating as a true subject-matter expert within a growing wealth management firm.
