Manager of Tax Operations – Summerville, Goose Creek, Moncks Corner, SC

Jackson Hewitt is seeking a manager and senior tax preparer to oversee locations Summerville, Goose Creek and Moncks Corner. Must be self-motivated, detail oriented and committed to quality and exemplary customer service.

Under general supervision and in accordance with established company policies and procedures, the Manager of Tax Operations participates in the management activities (staffing, productivity, tax prep work and marketing) for various offices within an assigned district. You will learn the business from the ground up providing real business leadership development and experience as well as deep understanding of critical components of business success (recruitment/retention strategies, marketing, employee development, operations, training, profitability, team leadership). This position manages the day-to-day activities of seasonal team members assigned to approximately four (4) or more stores and/or kiosk locations. Drives the operation at each location to maximize the efficiency of Tax Preparer work and increase revenue and office profitability.

This role has access to and regularly requires working with information of a sensitive, highly confidential nature, and dealing with diverse matters which require a working knowledge of the business.

Job Description:

General Job Description and responsibilities - Below is the minimum of what is expected:

  • Builds a positive team environment, provide employee training, and ensure accountability standards met. Monitors associate performance to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors, or problems.
  • Complete personal income tax returns involving trusts and/or partnerships.
  • Creates, reviews and approves work schedules and timecard approvals, monitors time tracker during all shifts, works with Human Resources on any employee relations issues or complaints and training.
  • Drives the operation at each location to maximize the efficiency of Tax Preparer work and increase revenue and profitability.
  • Works directly with the Franchisee to market products and services.
  • Audits associate performance to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems.
  • Monitors holds/voids/rejects, discount reports and productivity reports for assigned store group. Responsible for meeting all assigned goals including, but not limited to retention, new client growth, tax return count, discounts, revenue, cash control and tax return count in assigned area.
  • Active PTIN required.
  • Must pass background screening.

Must successfully complete of the Jackson Hewitt Tax Season Aptitude Test or Fundamentals of Tax Preparation Course

Must possess reliable transportation, insurance, and a driver’s license in good standing

Other Duties as assigned in areas specific to Jackson Hewitt:

  • Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of all offices are in accordance with the lease terms and with the policies and procedures.
  • Completes annual 18-hours of continuing education and ability to meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Resilient under stress in fast paced environment.

Job Type:

  • Full-time Year-round (Will consider Seasonal)
  • Annual salary based on experience/qualifications + annual bonus based on tax returns and offices’ performance
