Join Our Team as a Manager of Power Fundamentals !

At The Energy Authority (TEA), you won’t just analyze markets—you’ll define the fundamental view that drives commercial decisions across multiple U.S. power markets. In this highly visible role, you’ll lead power fundamental analysis for TEA and our Clients, aggregating complex data, building advanced models, and translating evolving market dynamics into actionable insight. Your work will directly influence trading strategy, client hedging decisions, and TEA Market Insights publications—positioning you at the center of commercial value creation.

What You'll do:
  • Lead comprehensive fundamental analysis across multiple power markets, demonstrating deep expertise in the short- and long-term drivers of price formation.
  • Aggregate and maintain data from multiple sources; assimilate and analyze trends, scenario outcomes, hedging recommendations, trading ideas, and strategic opportunities while managing data for fundamental modeling.
  • Develop and enhance fundamental models to forecast resource stack dynamics, reserve margins, and power prices.
  • Use modeling to perform risk and scenario analysis and evaluate trading strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with the Manager, Gas Fundamentals to align load forecasts and incorporate gas price scenarios into power modeling frameworks.
  • Proactively monitor forward and historical pricing, congestion patterns, changes in resource stack, load, utility IRPs, equity earnings, and regulatory developments—integrating evolving market intelligence directly into models and fundamental views.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to incorporate regulatory changes and RTO stakeholder process developments into modeling and analysis.
Communication
  • Present your fundamental market view, supported by rigorous modeling and data, to trading teams, cross‑functional partners, and TEA Clients.
  • Represent TEA by presenting at industry and client events.
  • Author TEA Market Insights periodic publications, delivering timely, data‑driven commentary internally and externally to TEA Clients.
Client & Commercial Value
  • Generate actionable analysis that informs key commercial decisions, including client hedging strategies, structured transactions, and proprietary trading initiatives.
  • Partner closely with the Trading team to develop, analyze, and execute strategies that generate incremental commercial value for TEA and its Clients.
  • Ensure your market perspective translates into measurable impact for both TEA and our public power partners.

This position does not currently include direct reports; however, you will be allocated analytical resources to support model development and ongoing analysis. You’ll develop and coach junior staff, direct cross-team initiatives with Trading and Analytics, and help elevate the rigor and commercial impact of TEA’s fundamental capabilities.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering, finance, economics, business, or a related field required; advanced degree (MBA or similar) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing fundamental analysis across multiple U.S. energy markets.
  • Strong knowledge of energy and transmission markets, with the ability to translate complex market dynamics into clear, commercially relevant insight.
