Job summary

The Toronto Blue Jays are seeking a Manager of Grounds to lead all field and ground operations at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida. This role is responsible for delivering Major League-Caliber playing conditions and ensuring that the ballpark grounds remain safe, professional, and visually outstanding year round.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience managing athletic fields, golf courses, or high-end landscapes.
• 3-5+ years of supervisory/management experience in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to build and maintain a positive team culture aligned with company values.
• 2 or 4 year turf management, agronomy, horticulture, or related degree preferred.
• OSHA certification or willingness to obtain.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills in team-based environments.
• General mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and small repairs.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, schedule, and supervise grounds crew staff.
• Develop and execute annual, monthly, and daily field maintenance plans.
• Maintain turf grass, infield skin, pitcher’s mound, bullpens, and other surfaces.
• Manage irrigation, drainage, and weather-related field protection programs.
• Oversee maintenance, repair, and inventory of grounds equipment and supplies.
• Prepare fields for games, practices, Spring Training, and events.
• Coordinate pre-game and post-game field preparation and setup.
• Maintain records of maintenance, field conditions, equipment usage, and chemical applications.
• Ensure compliance with MLB PDL, Toronto Blue Jays, and safety standards.
• Assist with long-term planning, renovations, and capital improvements.
• Perform hands-on ground maintenance duties as required.

This role is responsible for delivering Major League-Caliber playing conditions and ensuring that the ballpark grounds remain safe, professional, and visually outstanding year round.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for turf management, clay areas, irrigation systems, equipment programs, weather response, game preparation and staff supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, train, schedule, and supervise grounds crew staff.
• Develop and execute annual, monthly, and daily field maintenance plans.
• Maintain turf grass, infield skin, pitcher’s mound, bullpens, warning track, and other playing surfaces.
• Manage irrigation, drainage, and weather-related field protection programs.
• Oversee maintenance, repair, inventory of grounds equipment and supplies.
• Prepare fields for games, practices, workouts, Spring Training, and special events.
• Coordinate pre-game and post-game field preparation, including grooming, chalking, painting, and field setup.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, field conditions, equipment usage, and chemical applications.
• Ensure compliance with MLB Player Development League (PDL), Toronto Blue Jays, and safety standards.
• Assist with long-term planning, renovation projects, and capital improvements.
• Perform hands-on ground maintenance duties as required.

Qualifications:

• 3-5+ years of supervisory or management experience in a fast-paced environment preferred.

Requirements:

• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.Ability to work outdoors in Florida climate conditions.
• Valid driver's license.
• Proficiency in operating professional turf equipment such as mowers, rollers, gators, and utility vehicles.
• Florida Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain).
