Job description

About Us

Founded in 2015 to develop the world’s first industrially scalable laser metal additive manufacturing solution, VulcanForms is reshaping how the world manufactures critical products. We build and operate advanced digital infrastructure that enables innovation, accelerates growth, and supports sustainability across aerospace, defense, medical, and other essential industries. Through our vertically integrated capabilities, including scalable additive manufacturing and precision machining, we deliver true end-to-end production at scale by combining cutting-edge technology with a foundation of proven industrial craftsmanship. Our team brings deep expertise in manufacturing, materials science, software, automation, and operations, united by a shared commitment to quality, curiosity, and accountability. We foster an inclusive culture where people take ownership, solve meaningful problems, and continuously learn, because we believe diverse perspectives lead to better outcomes.

Job Purpose

As the Manager of Factory Integration Engineering, you will lead a high-performing, specialized engineering team responsible for guiding the intentional and efficient factory design of Vulcanforms’ production sites. Integrating digital and physical architecture in the most efficient manner and ensuring they are set up for future scaling and capacity in line with the company goals. Moving beyond traditional individual contribution, you will act as a critical player-coach, driving the development and deployment of production-ready systems that support our "lights-out" manufacturing strategies and 24/7 factory scalability.

Success in this position means successfully guiding engineers through complex technical challenges, fostering their career growth, and acting as a key partner to company executives and cross-functional teams to turn ambitious automation concepts into seamless factory realities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Talent Evaluation & Team Management: Drive career development, growing core engineering skills, and managing performance loops for your team.
  • OEE Tracking & Factory Integration Roadmap: Act as the primary authority for factory integration, identifying operational constraints and high-cost labor areas during pre-planning phases. Maintain accurate and on-going tracking for OEE across all company facilities. Lead the development of engineered solutions to intentionally tradeoff between all performance KPI’s.
  • Strategic Planning: Create alignment between various factories and company strategy, ensuring factories will be ready for new product when needed and that factory capacity constraints are known and addressed proactively.
  • Organizational & Technical Process improvements: Establish systems to ensure all in-house standards and processes are continually improving through feedback on completed projects and forward looking architectural changes.
  • Executive & Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as a primary integration authority interfacing with Company Executives, Program Management, and Customer Management teams, as well as management-level internal teams.
  • Throughput Simulation and Digital Factory Models: Ensure standards are consistently applied to all facilities with common KPI’s and metrics in place.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, strategic planning, or industrial systems development within a high-stakes, high-precision production environment.
  • Proven experience successfully leading complex engineering projects, defining functional requirements, or directly managing engineering personnel.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Robotics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Expert-level knowledge of automation, discrete event simulation, python scripting, material flow planning, 2D and 3D factory CAD systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience managing or driving highly automated, high-throughput "lights-out" manufacturing initiatives in an industrial setting.
  • Hands-on familiarity with metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) and the unique automation challenges of powder-bed fusion or advanced post-processing operations.
