About the Role
As the Manager of Engineering, you oversee and develop the transmission line engineering teams in your region, ensuring high‑quality and cost‑competitive services. You also participate in business development and company initiatives, establishing strategies and objectives.
What You Will Be Doing
- Manage and develop engineering teams
- Support business development activities and grow the business in your region
- Ensure teams uphold Pickett’s values, brand promises, and code of conduct
- Provide a work environment conducive to team growth and development
- Provide project oversight, managing engineering scope, developing change orders, and maintaining schedules and budgets
- Maintain a high level of quality and responsiveness to client requirements in alignment with Pickett’s standards
- Oversee transmission line design activities and quality assurance
- Interact regularly with clients, maintaining current relationships and developing new ones
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification (required)
- 15+ years of related engineering experience, through consulting or utilities (required)
- Project management experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of fundamentals of managing project scope, schedule, and budget
- Understanding of basic practices for evaluating engineering and design issues
- Ability to develop better alternatives and recommendations for the transmission line group (structures, processes, software, etc.) and communicate them
- Commitment to safety regulations
- Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Collaborative approach when working with peers or clients
- High comfort with sharing knowledge freely
- Ability to identify relevant metrics and apply them to business, clients, and projects
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work both in team and independently
- Creative thinking related to engineering innovation and solutions
- Capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial, agile environment
- Candidate must pass drug screen, background check, and have satisfactory driving record per company policy
