Manager of Data Analytics

Overview
Summary: The Manager of Data Analytics is responsible for supporting data analysis within schools, including developing and implementing professional development to support the district’s data analytics programs and their integration into data inquiry cycles. The role also supports key student data collection, reporting, and special projects; and supports schools during state assessments (MCAS) as the district coordinator.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Data Analytics: Coordinate, plan, and implement professional development for district and school staff for data analytics platforms, including developing materials. Identify areas for further development on data analytics platforms in collaboration with the Chief of Data and Research. Manage vendor relationships (including data source connections in collaboration with IT, dashboard alterations, new dashboard development, and issue troubleshooting). Collaborate with the Director of MTSS to understand data analytics needs in elementary schools and implement solutions. Work with curriculum coordinators and department heads to identify data analytics needs by level and coordinate with vendors to implement solutions. Support leadership (school and district) in utilizing data analytics platforms to support students and educational programs.
- Support District Information and Assessment Needs: Prepare and submit required reports for State and Federal compliance, coordinate and verify data collection, and assemble teams as needed to coordinate report completion. Coordinate communication between Central Office and other departments for data collection for Federal, State, and departmental reports and assessments. Respond to inquiries from central administration, city administration, principals, and DESE personnel regarding information in departmental reports and assessment data. Respond to inquiries from central administration, principals, and curriculum coordinators regarding data analysis requests. Work with Information Technology and Student Services staff to ensure data integrity and coordinate training to enable compliant reporting and high data accuracy. Collaborate with schools to improve data collection processes and use accountability system data to inform instruction and support school data teams. Assist staff in utilizing state-provided data systems.
- Guide Administration of Federally Mandated Student Assessments: Plan for and properly administer federally mandated assessments (e.g., MCAS). Manage the distribution of student assessment reports to families and schools.
- Prepare Technical Reports: Coordinate inter-departmental and school-level data collection for Federal and State reports and technical research. Analyze data using Excel (including pivot tables) and other tools to create statistical reports and presentations. Use relational database queries to export data and complete data submissions in appropriate formats. Conduct data analyses for standard and additional reports as required and present results. Attend related state and professional meetings as requested.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Data and Research.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree; minimum of 5 years of experience in public administration and data analysis and reporting
- Ability to handle multiple, varying, and complex issues
- Experience developing and facilitating adult learning in both large group and one-on-one contexts
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite skills
- Experience with federal and state assessments
- Experience with SPSS or other statistical software
Desired:
- Master’s degree in education, business, or public administration (preferred)
- Experience managing relationships with external vendors (preferred)
- Experience with relational databases (preferred)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work Environment: Office setting with a moderately noisy environment and potential interruptions.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer, printer, telephone, copier, etc.)
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 15 pounds
