As a key member of the integrated Legal Talent Team, the Manager of Associate Development and Training will focus on lawyer training and development to ensure the most effective orientation, integration, engagement and retention of lawyers firm-wide. Working closely with the Director of Associate Development and Training and Senior Director of Talent Development, the Manager will align firm and practice area training and development initiatives and programs with the strategic goals of the firm and the professional development needs of firm lawyers. The Manager also will play an integral role in the Associate performance management process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Associate Development and Training and the Director of Associate Recruitment and Integration to develop and deliver a best-in-class orientation and integration experience for all attorneys, continually evaluating and enhancing program elements based on feedback and industry trends;
  • Implement practice area and firm-wide training curricula, including collaborating with Training Advisory Groups to drive program planning, collaborating with internal and external faculty, and recommending program enhancements;
  • Collaborate with Practice Group Leaders and Work Allocators to continually assess the legal and professional skills learning needs for Associates across the firm to enhance the training curricula;
  • Evaluate training program content and delivery and seek ongoing feedback from participants to ensure the greatest return on investment and impact of training programs;
  • Keep current on industry best practices, adult learning theory, curriculum design, and available external resources to enhance content and facilitation of legal and professional skills training programs;
  • Assist with managing the performance review process for Associates, including junior Associate practice area reviews, mid-level and senior Associate firm-wide reviews and pre-Partnership reviews for those approaching partnership consideration.
  • Collaborate with Legal Talent Team to continually evaluate and enhance firm processes and systems for greater efficiency and quality.
  • Work on special department or firm projects, as needed.

Qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of experience in a professional services firm, law firm preferred.
  • Understanding of law firm business operations.
  • Strong oral presentation and written communication skills.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to work independently.
  • Detail and action-oriented with strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to drive and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships and communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Database Management Systems, Software for Evaluations
