Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Newport News Shipbuilding seeks a senior professional to identify hazardous conditions, take samples, and protect employees by guarding procedures and PPE, ensuring OSHA compliance and recordkeeping.

The role leads the Fire Safety Emergency Planning team, overseeing drills, emergency preparedness programs, and the coordination with Navy and local partners to improve readiness and response capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
• One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: Associate's Degree or other 2 year program with 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
• High School/GED with 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
• High School/GED with 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Responsibilities

• Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and takes preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances
• Removes hazards and/or protects employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and PPE
• Ensures workplace conditions comply with applicable OSHA standards and maintains required records
• Leads the Fire Safety Emergency Planning team and oversees emergency preparedness programs
• Oversees development and review of exercise packages and evaluating drill performance
• Coordinates with Navy, agencies and internal stakeholders to improve readiness
