Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Nurse Leader with unit responsibility for practice, quality of care, and service. You will lead and support staff, manage personnel and budgets, and ensure patient satisfaction while maintaining regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes exceptional leadership, organizational excellence, and self-direction to drive continuous improvement across nursing services in a magnet facility setting.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN required for magnet facilities.
  • 3 years RN experience including 1 year as charge nurse, supervisor or leader.
  • Current RN license in state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of nursing practice; strong leadership and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes unit responsibility for practice, quality of care and service.
  • Provides leadership and support to develop and improve staff performance.
  • Manage personnel, supplies and equipment in a cost-effective way.
  • Ensure quality of care and patient satisfaction through systems and improvements.

Education
  • Required - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree Science of Nursing (BSN) required for all Ochsner Magnet Facilities.
Work Experience
  • Required - 3 years of experience as an RN including 1 year as a charge nurse, supervisor or leader.
Certifications
  • Required - Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

Job Duties
  • Ensures quality of care and patient satisfaction through unit-specific systems and improvements.
  • Ensures operational profitability with preliminary budgets, performance data, system reporting, and inventory management.
  • Provides care to patients, effectively using the nursing process.
  • Communicates pertinent information to patients, families, and staff.
  • Participates in activities for professional development and maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials.
  • Manages, develops, retains and inspires an engaged workforce.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
