Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager of National Alumni Engagement & Philanthropy will oversee the implementation of Birthright Israel Foundation’s (BRIF) national strategy to cultivate, steward, and grow philanthropic giving among alumni. Reporting to the Vice President of Donor Experience, this individual will execute a multi-tiered engagement plan that moves alumni from connection to contribution, while also identifying and nurturing the next generation of Jewish philanthropic leaders.

This role will focus on activating alumni giving at the $1,500+ and $5,000+ levels, managing strategic donor relationships, and providing alumni with meaningful opportunities to support the work of BRIF. Over the first two years, this position will be responsible for executing national strategy and leveraging in-person events – developed in coordination with alumni host committees in major cities and ambassador networks – to deepen alumni engagement and philanthropy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the national implementation of BRIF’s alumni philanthropy and engagement strategy in coordination with the VP, Donor Experience.
  • Execute tiered pathways for alumni giving at the $1,500+ and $5,000+ levels.
  • Ensure the alignment of all alumni-facing initiatives with BRIF-wide goals.
Relationship Management & Stewardship
  • Develop and oversee a national portfolio of alumni donors and prospects.
  • Design and deliver customized stewardship plans to drive retention and upgrade giving.
  • Coordinate with the Development and Advancement Teams to integrate alumni prospects into broader fundraising efforts and major gift portfolios.
Events & Activation
  • Work closely with the Events Team to implement and oversee alumni donor experiences at ~10 philanthropic events annually throughout the country, with a focus on the New York City, Los Angeles, and South Florida markets.
  • Identify high-potential alumni at events and activate them as donors, hosts, and speakers.
  • Design and lead the implementation of a 2026 national gathering that will bring together alumni donors for opportunities to network and further develop as leaders.
  • Support the growth of BRIF’s Speakers Bureau as it pertains to leading alumni voices.
  • Expand the Speakers Bureau by equipping alumni with tools to share their stories at donor and community events.
  • Manage components of the 25th Anniversary Alumni Recognition Program, including alumni awards and spotlights.
  • Help BRIF reach its highest potential by strengthening workplace culture, including a focus on recruiting top talent from among alumni to join the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • 5+ years of experience in alumni relations, donor engagement, Jewish communal development, business development, or investor relations.
  • Track record of managing donor pipelines and cultivating gifts.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; experience working with volunteers or alumni boards preferred.
  • Highly organized, able to execute national strategy while managing local details and personal stewardship.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and comfort using new technology to improve efficiencies.
  • A self-driven and strategic mindset with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
